Hi. Earlier I started a thread on what are the "pet peeves" of athiests on CF, and realized a better question would be to ask is what are the main reasons atheists visit, not only CF, but any Christian forum.
So all atheists [and other non-Christians] just state the main reasons you come here. Thanks.

I posted these reasons when the question came up in Women's Discussion:

1. When I first joined CF I was a Christian.

2. I enjoy that the site is rather active. I know that I have an urgent question I will probably get a very timely response.

3. I do belong to a couple of Pagan-oriented message forums, but they are strictly for Pagan related discussions. In other words, if I'm having a feminine issue, I couldn't post it there.

4. Yes, I could go to a generic message board to ask for advice or have discussions, but have any of you ever tried to have a serious discussion over at Yahoo Answers or Topix? They are laden with trolls and troublemakers. So, please forgive me if I post here because I know that I won't get a response to the tune of, "itz prolly cuz ur a harlot! LOL pwn3d!"

5. I actually enjoy interfaith dialog, if for no reason other than to better understand where someone else is coming from or to broaden my knowledge of various religious beliefs and practices.

I agree with this. While CF does have it's trolls, it has no where near the number that other large scale message boards have.

I'm interested in dialogue between Christians, atheists and other faiths. I like exchanging ideas and since the US is primarily Christian oriented, I'm interested in how we can talk to each other in ways that matter in regards to making laws, deciding on ethics, policy, etc...

And apologetic's nifty to discuss. :)

I'm trying to figure out how much of a christian I can be.

I can also post most of my thoughts here, and don't have to worry about the personal attacks I've recieved on other sites. (Usually ;))

But mostly its the wide varitiy of answers and views of spiritualty I can access here.

(and of course, waiting to see what Holy Roller is going to post next :sorry:).

Most likely the same reason christians visit NON-Christian forums. To hassle each other. I have run 3 atheists sites in the past, two of which are still running. The only reason christians or other religious folks went there was just to give us grief about our non-beleif. I come here or other christian forums is to learn a little here and there. I have been trying to believe for 4 years now and I am still a non-believer. Why? I don't know. I am still learning stuff though.

Yep! The Richard part in your name is short for www.richarddawkins.net. I knew it. I knew you'd come around here.
So, you miss the ol' Bible Thumper, do ya? Then why'd you ban me? Huh? Well?
I'm waiting for the answer...
(but of course we already know why you banned me from your rather deprived forum now, don't we.)

This thread isn't about you Holy. Put the ego in check.

Anywho, I'm interested in sociology. And I think that the relationship of society and religion in this country is both important and interesting. So I check out some of the perspectives on issues here at CF. And I like the Ethics forum a lot. Discussions on the intersections of pragmatism, modern morality and a whole lot of other things including religion is interesting to me.

Dawkins isn't an agnostic, mate.

It's not his forum. Another person owns it. He is a member of the forum but I strongly doubt he was the one who banned you. I don't even think he has "banning powers"?

Now, to actually go on topic, I joined this forum out of boredom and curiosity. I'm interested in seeing what the believers have to say and wish to share my opinions with them.

I joined for a number of reasons.

Like others, I enjoy interfaith dialogue. However, in my heart of hearts I'm a historian, and I can't stand to see history butchered, so I like to log onto Islam or Christianity bashing threads and try in vain to set people straight.

I also am somewhat undecided on religious matters, and as much as I don't always agree with Evangelical Christians, they don't irritate me nearly as much as the militant atheist/post-modernist crowd. In fact, I rather like evangelical christians.

Also, I'm a troll, and Professor Quirrell let me in here...

Also, as someone else said, people on this forum are nice, and write comprehensible English.

When I joined I was a seeker of Christianity...since then I have become a Christian, and also de-converted and I now have no clue as to what I am, to be honest...but I have made many friends here, both Christian and not, and even though things can get a little heated sometimes, I still really like this place, and the people here :D

That and there are sooooo many people that I have yet to throughly annoy ;)
