Why do atheists come to CF

I am here to learn about religion in general. Though I think some Agnostics and Atheists come here for the same reason Christians go to Non-Christian forums, to try converting people.

Atheist should not be capitalized. Except that I just did, because it was at the beginning of a sentence.
There are agnostic theists, by the way.

Also, I came here to troll. *trolltrolltroll*

Evangelism can only be effective if it is unfocused and the victim has to invent their own specifics, that way the evangelist avoids saying something the victim dislikes or identifies as nonsense.

What age is a person in heaven? At his prime. Which prime, physical in which case it might be 16 or brain power which could be 65?

Avoid specifics: Mention Noah's flood but never specify if it was local or global. Leave out the duration and depth of water because no one these days will believe land plants can survive being miles underwater for 10 months in total darkness. What about the cacti? ... avoid specifics

Pretty much every high school atheist has something inside of them that automatically makes them want to find a group of christians (whom they tend to think of as retarded, uneducated, creationist rednecks) and use their philosophy 101 skills and basic understanding of evolution to "defeat" the dumb Christians.

Don't get me wrong, biology is my major and I'm sure i know more about evolution than anyone here. It's just hard to see these avid 15 year-old atheists talk with such fervor without realizing their zealotry is the same as any christian fundamentalist.

Humans are social animals and have an almost irresistible urge to talk about things that matter, and this forum is active enough to get responses the same day.

I think what you are see is a small portion of the atheist population. Most atheist I know, including several teen-agers pretty much want to live and let live. It is like with any extremist group, a small number of them makes the rest of them look bad. Those few militant atheist make all atheist look bad; just how a few crazy christians like Fred Phelps make other christians look bad as well.

The lord works in ways we may not understand. The lord is doesnt just work with Christian's he works with everyone EVEN non believers. He tries to soften there hearts and its THEIR choices if they want to follow him or turn away.

Forgive me; I'm not quite sure what you mean. You mean that it's unfair for me to assume that every "new" atheist is a militant anti-theist with little basis for what they preach?

How much time have you spent around the average American atheist? The one's in suburban high schools tend to be the most intense in their lack of belief. Have you ever been to the 44,000 strong AANR group on facebook? Its a prime example of what I'm talking about. Anyone under 18 there is usually some wild atheist animal that needs to be caged.

You're 27? I'd feel like you'd realize that "Defender of Reason" will not feel the same way as an adult as he does about the stuff he writes at age 13 on some christian forums. Especially with his incomplete atheist atomic battle standard (my only tattoo at them moment, except without the "A" as a respect for science never being complete as opposed to a unifying religious symbol for atheists).

I know you're smart. What do you have against me? My unfair generalizations? I'll agree to that, but the stereotype still exists.

I don't get that at all, isn't any use of language the use of categories and isn't use of categories a generalisation?
