Why did McCarthy Give Tucker Carlson Exclusive Access to J6 Footage?

I never understood this talking point about Fox News. It is by far the most watched TV channel in the country with well over a million viewers daily. Yet they are never seen as being part of the mainstream media.

To go deeper on that, look at the top downloaded podcasts, the most shared things on Facebook. They are littered with right wing voices. AM Radio is still filled with right wing talk radio. One of the biggest social media networks, Twitter is run by a supporter of Republicans. Anyone who says that mainstream media is exclusively liberal lacks a firm grasp on reality.

It does not appear that Carson has exclusive access, it appears that McCarthy wants access to be available to the public and why not? It is less than fair that the only footage that the public has seen was carefully selected and edited by those who have a specific bias.

What does "exclusive access" mean other than exclusive access? Carlson and Fox are not "the public". I believe the Capitol Police and prosecutors have concerns re security and evidence.

Here's a thought: McCarthy should simply release the video publicly so every one of us can make our own determination without the "assistance" of Tucker Carlson.

It pretty much has always been …it has never been a secret. In some ways they make an attempt to be fair and balanced… but it definitely swings right.

Did you happen to notice the issues at Fox news in regards to their integrity on reporting?

I don't like fox because they are not honest and, apparently, are TOTALLY willing to just present false information as true.

I can get not liking left leaning sources because they are bias; but I am waiting to see an ENTIRE left leaning news network so completely misrepresent the truth of reality in such a way to jeopardize the integrity of important institutions in your country.

"Media" is plural; "medium" is singular. It is not a single medium, but multiple media which have covered the story.

Now McCarthy is fund-raising off the claim.

McCarthy pushed back on those accusations, arguing the release was important to ensure a transparent investigation. The House speaker said he plans to release the footage more widely after Carlson’s crew is done sifting through it, according to the New York Times.

So if he plans to release the footage more widely later, that means he has not yet done so.

Here are some other possible reasons

1. No one else had previous expresses interest.
2. No One else was actively and consistently asking why they were not released
3. The media on the Left would not even bother
4. Don Lemon was busy being retrained
5. The 51 former intelligence agents were all in hiding

I have seen snippets on Twitter - including one (cannot be linked because of language) of a DC officer on 6 Jan saying they were "expletive deleted" set up.

I've seen clips of his show. But I think I did see some of his previous show (CNN, MSNBC?) where it was him and a liberal. That was a long time ago when he was the nerdy guy in the bow tie.

Here are some other possible reasons

You didn't mention any reporters

I didn't *name* any reporters, I did mention their existence. (And I don't have time to collate a list right now.)

You should get a wider reading base - you would have seen it.

It's rather that I read *too* much and have seen too many video clips from Jan6 that I don't recall this specific one. Even if it's relatively new, I've seen a couple dozen in the last week or so.

A coalition of news outlets is demanding access to footage from the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) shared exclusively with Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson.

Attorney Charles Tobin sent a letter to Congress on Friday requesting the footage on behalf of Advance Publications, ABC News, Axios, CNN, CBS News, The E.W. Scripps Company, Gannett, the Los Angeles Times, Politico, and ProPublica.

In addition, NBC News reported that another group of news outlets had also filed a separate request seeking the footage. This group included NBC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Associated Press, Telemundo, and others.
