Why are there some Priests that seem to be compromising in the Church?

I still can't believe the original post says such awful things about such good priests without a challenge. Who do people think they are, calling priests names just because they won't join conservative groups on a Republican crusade?
Conservatives do NOT equal republicans!

I'm not really a fan of the GOP, and don't really consider myself a republican, and I'm a reactionary and real "CONSERVATIVe"....Paleo-Conservative/ultra-Conservative, what have you.

I utterly despise the corporate godlessness of the GOP and the vile socialism of the Democratic Party.

What's good is: Small Government employing the sound principles of subsidarity. Localized Distrubutist and communal economies.

I support fundamentally Catholic Economics and political views, and I'm sorry, as it seems as I'm a so-called, "Reactionary," or "Conservative," for holding to traditional Catholicism.

And because I refused to be associated with any label of liberalism....or anything Democrat-related [speaking as an ex-dem. in a family of all dems.) and.. (all of the Democrats are controlled by the mafia in myhome-county)........and the GOP has been exuding some pretty lame and extreme suckitude lately.

So I'm sorry, if I'm blowing my top off...it just really really ticks me off that every time I or some other person attempts to stand up for the Catholic faith or adhere to an "orthodox" Catholic position, we're automatically labeled a "conservative," [as if the Church had a left and right wings:doh:....No she only has two groups in her spectrum: right and wrong a.k.a. "orthodox" and well .....the "heretical" ) and dismissed as some sorta Republican idealogue that should be slapped upside the head, beat the living crap of them, and spat upon, and ignored after everyone's had their jolly old-time mocking him and cussing him out.

And anywho, that's my rant.....Oh, man I really needed to say that!!!!:o:

Yeah, what was up with him????

i was like, are you kidding me??

But why you ask?

It's a strategy of the enemy- lovy- dovy- benign priests who want to "make love, not war."

But the problem is they are being soft on evil under the guise of charity.

it's false charity, pseudo charity. Not charity at all. It's the enemy attacking the Church.

as the old saying goes, we do not have to worry about those on the outside bringing us down, we have plenty with in who is trying to bring us down.

I bet Hannity just bribed him to say all that stuff. Might not even been a real priest. I wouldn't put anything below Hannity.

Kiss the Son...

You know what... it's okay when ppl of other nationalities and races view Jesus like themselves, becuase it's how they identify with Him.

I think it's fine if this is how you see Him. as long we arern't blasphemous.

Jesus loves biker chicks too. Not all bikers are 'hells angles' either. Some do ride for Jesus.

Hmmm...both tacky and inappropriate- a sexualized studly JC to feed the fantasies of lonely women.

How about a nice LAST SUPPER on black velvet, with a shirtless Jesus dancing on the table in rapture and divinely inspired gyrations of peace and love, like Elvis meets God. We could use, It's Raining Men as the soundtrack- hallelujah it raining men!

Like the one that was on Sean Hannity last night disgracing the collar with all that liberal nonsense while the heart of Christ is breaking.

And why was there only forty protesters at Note Dame yesterday? Well I heard that was the number that was arrested. Where's the Church leardership? I wonder, how many priests were there? Why not the Bishop standing out there with the flock? What is he somehow above all that? I recently found out that bishops wear red symbolic for the martyrs in the church. What? The bishop couldn't even put a public face on what the church teaches.

What a bunch of weak kneed whimps, those priest sitting there comfortably smiling and applauding Obama when he was talking about abortion...and how about when the two hecklers had the guts to defy obama? Those priests should have gotten up and joined in with THERE SHEEP!!!

What a dirty shame!

The real shame is they just don't really give a d***!

I think you really need to avoid the secular media. :D

Are you familiar with the parable about the weed seeds being planted alongside the good crops? What did Christ tell them? He told them to allow the weeds to grow alongside the good crops and that God, through His angels, would do the harvesting. The good would be gathered into the Father's house and the bad would be bound and thrown into the fire.

Who does the harvest? God.

Also, please consider that not all corrections and phone calls - meetings, etc. between ordained men take place in front of a camera. You do not know what memos, phone calls or meetings have taken place about this issue behind the scenes.

Now, visit some sites where you will see the other side to the Notre Dame story including different perspectives than you will find on the secular news:

Thanks...I agree. I usually don't picture Jesus like this. I like the traditional Semetic Man from Galilee...dust on His robe, wind in His hair...Yeshua.

I wrote a fiction story with Christ on a motorcycle. here's my favorite part...

"Clearly the jacket belonged to a veteran traveler. It was worn and weathered, soft to the touch, the leather crinkled and peeling. The smell of the seasons and multiple years of the open roads lingered in the folds. Isha wondered what stories he could tell about his travels. Vagabond, fugitive, refugee these were all terms she had understood in her earthly life. As Yeshua drove along the Galilean country side she thought, why not those terms? He was an outcast in the world, no place to call his home, the beggar at the door, a witness to the joys and sorrows of humanity. Why now? Even here, in this place called paradise, earth renewed, she knew he wanted her to never forget that he was not only God but a Man, genuine with feelings and emotions, strong, unmovable, one to be embraced. Knowledge ever new, like colors added to a painting, brought a glorious dimension. That day the humanity of Yeshua, a favorite theme of Isha, increased in beauty."

Don't ever vote for a person who is permissive on murder (including abortion), lawlessness, or discriminatory policies. The first thing to measure is these issues. You may find yourself without any or many choice. If you have no options, you may vote for the lesser of two evils, and in this case, (I take the position that, depending on the disparity, the only real choice is to vote for the lesser evil.)

This is not a GOP rule, but a broadly applicable moral rule that is generally and momentarily beneficial to Republicans in the US. If you have US democrat tendencies, then I apologize, I can understand your frustration. If you are a US republican that cares more about conservative economic and foreign issues that social rules, then you are dead wood.

I have only rarely heard much about economics in homilies, and the strong homilies seem to regard basic rights and life issues. Others are about (T)tradition and Scripture. And as far as Archbishop Burke goes, some of what he says seems to reflect his... indignation of not having any US Democrat to vote for. So, the assaults on him, and they were lively... they are just really telling about the politics of abortion in the US.

I'm offended that, rather than having a solid ideological foundation, both parties are perfectly willing to select here and there statistical groups and buy them with lard.

Me too..really...see my sig pic. that's my art.

That's really neat. I can't draw. If you ever want to see my version of Jesus well I'll be happy to draw him but you probably won't like it because lol......it won't be that good.

I am talking about conservatives who want to kick liberals out of the Church.

I didn't know anyone wanted liberals out of the Church.

Thanks! As far as drawing YOUR vison of Jesus I would love to see whatever you put on a paper. My pictures still aren't the best. there are many others much better than me. The important thing is you begin and keep working at it.

Thanks so much! yes i forgot all about that parable. I guess I have been seeing so much apathy lately on many different fronts. It's very disheartening because no matter how hard I fight it doesn't seem to make a dent. I was expecting a huge protest at notre dame and yes...I was let down when I found out that only 40 people showed up.

the rethoric I hear from Christians breaks my heart.

This is very encouarging.

Well I'll ask the same question I've been asking others who are upset over Obama being invited to give a speech at Notre Dame.

Do you allow "Pro-Choice," friends and relatives to visit you in your home, or do you kick them out?

Your answer to this question will help provide the question your asking about the priest who listened to President Obama.

The bishops resolved that their institutions not be a venue for propagating contrary messages. In this case, a keynote speech, is far different than a dinner date or debate, and a legal degree for someone who prefers laws contrary to the faith, is clearly contradictory.

I think that it may take more courage to be a moderate priest, or a moderately liberal priest, today than it takes to be a conservative priest.

Because, for the moment at least, we have a fairly conservative Pope, conservatives feel empowered.

But for moderate priests, statements that might have seemed perfectly reasonable, sane, sensible, and, most of all, pastoral ten years ago might not seem so today.

And there is a small but vocal minority of parishioners who will tell them so in no uncertain terms.

God bless the courageous moderate and moderately liberal priests. They are not wimpy by any definition. They are principled.
