Why are there some Priests that seem to be compromising in the Church?

I know from a protestant perspective I really had to get used to the homilies.

My background was more about pastors speaking out on current events, referring to Scripture & running with it.

Priest are obligated to go with the readings of the day... if like today, there was a martyr like Pope John then they speak on that along with Scripture.

They can't pick & choose like my previous pastors did.

They have to go with what they got for that day.

Wimpy priests?

Sure... they are out there but they are also under different rules as compared to most preachers.

Speaking of Protestant Pastors.....
I know some "Wimpy" If that means liberal Pastors too so yeah.... they are in all groups.
Absolutely true. One of the reasons I converted to the RCC. The changes I was seeing in a lot of Churches were extremely disturbing to me.

The truth is that there is a great deal of freedom and liberty within the Church.

Not really.
We are free to obey or to disobey - that i understand.
Jesus told the peeps - to obey the Chair of Moses and do what they say, but not what they do.

This was a direct prophecy to the Chair of Peter.
There is no room to debate with the Holy Spirit, which as faith tells us the Pope is led by to teach us.

The grey areas consist of limbo, torture [at the moment] and the exactness of purgatory [altho it is fairly outlined from what we do know], and of course when it comes to deciding what is 'just war' - yeah some room for discussion - but the doctrines and dogmas are pretty much clear cut.

Perhaps I don't understand the scope of your statement.

Is it appropriate for me to have another child?
Would if be appropriate for me to join a religious order or become a priest?
If I was a widower?
A deacon?
A politician?
etc...

And again, torture is defined as something intrinsically evil.

I suppose that this biker Jesus should also be wearing a rebel flag bandana, smoking Marlboro Reds and listening to Molly Hatchet?
LOL!

naaaa... he wouldn't be smoking, especailly not the illegal stuff, not Jesus. he wouldn'b be sporting a flag of any kind, just a regular hip bandana and Molly Hatchet?

Maybe "Spirit in the Sky."

He's the only one who could sing the lyric: "I never been a sinner. I never sinned," and be truthful.

Well if you read my other thread you'll see I'm definitely struggling with all this faith/Catholic stuff. I'm scared out of my wits right now. Not sure where to turn. But Protestantism is so wide and varied I can't be sure any one Church is going to have the "truth"

And wimpiness is running amok in Protestantism too. =\

I still can't believe the original post says such awful things about such good priests without a challenge. Who do people think they are, calling priests names just because they won't join conservative groups on a Republican crusade?

What crusade are you referring to? I get confused in these things a lot. I just wanted to know......

I'm on the side of the rebel Jesus who was standing with the 40 protesters and living out His Passion as the police handcuffed those gutsy folks and led them away to jail.

I am talking about conservatives who want to kick liberals out of the Church.

I'm on the side of the rebel Jesus who was standing with the 40 protesters and living out His Passion as the police handcuffed those gutsy folks and led them away to jail.

I am on the side of the Jesus who has a large following and believed in hope and loving your neighbor. I hear some of the same themes he spoke about in the speeches of another guy who likes to talk about hope and loving your neighbor, who has also has a large following, and started his work to help people in the basement of Catholic parishes in Chicago as a community activist. The President credits his work with Catholics in Catholic parishes as what inspired him to become more committed in his walk with Christ.

I'm not a fan of biker, tattoo Jesus with a bandana or a pack of cigs.

I just like Jesus with a robe and sandals. Or baby Jesus wrapped in cloths in a manger. Or Jesus ascending...probably not on a motorcycle.

Lolz

I like shepeard Jesus...I was a lost sheep at one time too...it's one of my favorite pictures!
