You could do that and plateau,... or you could take Smith Wigglesworth's example and read GOD's word everyday as much as possible and go beyond that plateau.

I'd disagree that prayers and fasting lead to plateauing, but to each their own. I think prayers and fasting are likely more important spiritual disciplines than scriptures reading. Not by much, but that's a topic for another thread.

Thanks man, I'm learning...

And I'm aware that it could take a while too...

But thanks man...

God Bless!

It was the beginning of '92 when GOD came into my life mightily, I was 27 years old, but it has taken 30 years to rid me of things in my flesh before He has felt I am somewhat ready for His work this year.

I thought that prayer and fasting would be what was needed to draw closer to Him and operate in His strength,.... I thought that for 30 years.

His word is Spiritual food, it carries the very imprint of The Holy Spirit within it,.... it is what is needed to go beyond what we think we need to do.

in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. (Romans 15:9)

Apparently it does, if the gospel isn't "fully preached" then it might not be so believable.
If the preaching and teaching coming from the Word-Faith preachers such as Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, Bill Johnson, Joyce Meyer, and others whose names I can't remember, who strongly claim signs, wonders and miracles, is examined, one can clearly see that although they are great motivational speakers, the Gospel involving Christ dying on the Cross for our sins is totally omitted. In fact, when a Baptist pastor told a woman Word-Faith preacher that she need to tell the people about Jesus dying on the Cross to take away our sins, she told him he had a demon! So we can make our own evaluation whether these fine preachers actually "fully preach" the Gospel as Paul did.

I'm not going to discredit your experience.

In the Word in Acts 4 it says the Church prayed and fasted for power and it was granted to them. They didn't open their scrolls of Moses and read. But again that's a topic for another thread.

You're being provided answers and you are rejecting them.

But hey,.... see if your ideas work out for you.

Any kind of discipline/study that leads to more self-control has to be good, right...?

God Bless!
Because of the Spirit or by the Spirit's power working in it and you, or you and it, of course, etc...

God Bless!

It should ultimately lead you to allowing GOD to operate through you to His glory. The more Spiritual you are the less the flesh has that control.

Discipline yourself on simple things,... praying by the spirit, fasting, church attendance,.. but learn how to read your bible as much as possible,.... it was what Smith Wigglesworth and other Christians of the older generations did. I didn't say just study it,.... I said read it, take it in as much as possible and allow it to do the work inside you.

God's will in the matter definitely has to be discerned first, thank you for the sober reminder my friend...

God Bless!
Some asked Jesus, "What is the work of God?" In other words, the will of God. Jesus answered, "This is the work of God, that you believe on Him whom He has sent", namely Jesus.

Paul said, "I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, and the life I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loves me and gave Himself for me". So, the will of God for Paul was that he lives in the faith of Christ, who gave Himself for him when he bled and died on the Cross.

I didn't reject anything, I just said I didn't agree with your ideas how you presented them. I can read a letter written to me from a loved one and that's all fine and dandy. But why not pick up the phone and call them? That's even better! The two don't have to be at odds with each other. In fact one can and should lead me to the other.

Prayers and fasting are vital to the health of our spirit lives, just as much (or if not more so than) Bible reading. But that's not saying Bible reading/study isn't also necessary.

Actually, works in the gospel of John always refers to the signs and wonders performed by Jesus.

So the key to understand this verse is found in John 20:30-31. Jesus performed signs so that Israel will believe that he is indeed their promised Son of God.

That is correct. But no one in our modern churches has been able to do the same signs and wonders. There has been much talk about it but no actual action to back up the talk. It is one thing to give a motivational speech about a person with terminal cancer being healed, but it is quite another to actually demonstrate it in a crusade and then have the healing validated by medical evidence by a medical professional.

We had people of the older generations operate in them, so we must follow their example and find out what they did to reach that point.

As I said, they will be making a glorious comeback during the Tribulation, so no worries about that.

I get the impression that the "full preaching" hasn't happened for centuries.

Since we have fallen from such a great height, there is a lot of quibbling over words. However, the kingdom is not a matter of talk, but of power as Paul said.

Because many churches like to preach from the first 4 books of the NT, so they tend to regard those signs and wonders as directed to them as well.

Just because someone said it, doesn't mean it will happen. That seems to me as an excuse to try and explain why it is not happening in the most passionate Charismatic crusades where multitudes are believing as hard as they can for healing. There is a lot of naming and claiming, but all that can be achieved is slaying in the Spirit, shaking, jerking, nodding, rolling around the floor screaming.

And there are different schools of thought concerning whether there is going to be a Tribulation. Ask the people of Ukraine about that. Perhaps they will tell you that they are going through their Tribulation right now!
