Why are most Christians so accepting of magic

That may be.. but, he also said that he uses "Black Art". You cannot just ignore that.
Black Art is a magic technique that involves darkened light, meaning on a dark stage. It's nothing connected to anything supernatural.

Mike Super, Lim, etc "saying it/admitting" is what you call a gimmick. Most perform/theater artists do something called Kayfabe, which is means remaining in character. Watch videos on how they did that.

In so much of our media and entertainment such as books, television shows, movies, video games and even music, magic is something that isn't used sparingly throughout the list of "creative" ideas to the world. In fact, it's getting harder to deter away from entertainment that doesn't contain some type of occult idea that defies the Truths of God.

When I first became a Christian, this was a big conviction for me as I wasn't into practicing anything occultic nor did I even believe it was true, however I was influenced by occult ideas based off of the media I was consuming, whether I had known it or not. As this was one of my very first convictions and I was strongly led by the Holy Spirit to turn from these things, I quickly saw how this wasn't the case for a majority of others. When things like Disney and Harry Potter are so popular, even among professing Christians, I'm left wondering how can this be so?

Talk to any born again believer who has come out of the new age movement and they understand how serious this is, because they've seen how far too real the deception of the enemy is to be lenient with these kinds of ideas, even at the expense of their own pleasure. In Revelation 21:8 the Bible says that sorcerers will have their part in the lake of fire. If this is taken seriously by God to include these kinds of people in the lake of fire, then why aren't the very ideas and practices that will put these people in the lake of fire, taken more seriously among Christians?
I don’t see any true born again Christian wanting anything to do with majic. I can honestly tell you that the present darkness that shrouds the world is more pervasive than I think you might be ready to see. Christ opened my eyes about 30 years ago and I continue to be illuminated. Please ask Christ to guide you on your journey towards Him.

Oh yay! Another Harry Potter and DnD is bad thread. Like we haven't had enough of those! /endsarcasm

Admittedly, I haven't read the whole thread, but I have yet to see Shakespeare mentioned in regards to magic. "Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble." That is uttered by the three witches in Macbeth. How about the Wizard of Oz? Never hear that mentioned. Another one is Mary Poppins.

Where does it end?

If you go looking for the devil in the details, you will generally trick yourself into seeing the devil.

However, as time goes on and magicians are trying to push the envelope to new highs... they have activated demonic forces and admitted to it. Mike Super, Shin Lim and even David Copperfield have come right out and said it.
Satan and demons sell, they are great advertising.

Have you ever heard of Mike Warnke, Christian evangelist and comedian?
His claim to fame was Satan and demons as well and it made him millions of dollars.
In 1972, Warnke's book The Satan Seller was released. Written by Warnke, with help from Balsiger and Les Jones, the book tells of Warnke being orphaned as a child and his introduction into Satanism. Further detailed is Warnke's participation in sexual orgies, alcoholism, and drug dealing; his rise in the ranks of Satanism to the level of "high priest"; presiding over Satanic rituals including magical spells, summoning demons, ritual sex including a ritual kidnap and rape; the attempt on his life — a heroin overdose — that left him angry and disillusioned; his heroism in Vietnam; and how he found Jesus and came home as an evangelist. The story ends with Warnke living happily in California with wife Sue Studer. In fewer than three months after the release, The Satan Seller had become a religious best-seller.[1]
....
On May 16, 1985, Warnke appeared in a prime-time news report about Satanism on ABC's 20/20. In the show's episode titled "The Devil Worshippers", Warnke was included in a number of segments where he discussed the implements and clothing used in Satanic ceremonies, a scar allegedly indicating where he was repeatedly cut so that his blood could be used in Satanic ceremonies, and what drew him to Satanism.[9]

He traveled around the country doing shows, he made albums wrote more books, etc. Christian magazines wrote about and interviewed him.

He was a Fake, his whole story about this was debunked. He was never in Satanism at all, let alone as a 'high priest'.
But claiming that he was set him apart, got him recognition, and made him lots of money.

I didn't go over this entire thread either, but I figured I'd say my piece. While everyone is focused on what people shouldn't do, let's look at magic in another way. Are not the words and actions we perpetuate every day more powerful than the fiction we choose to consume?

If I wish someone well and add joy to their life, that is like casting a light spell on them. The power resides in my will and action, because God says our words have power. Making someone smile uses more power than 800 billion copies of Superman. Why? Because our strength through God, whose power is unlimited, is the only way we can do good in our lives.

When I choose my own way and do harm in my life and the lives of others, it is like casting dark magic. Angry, hateful words, prideful words... these are like casting dark spells. So let us not worry as much about fictional elements that God may find offensive, let us instead worry more about what actions we are taking (and the ones we may be missing) every day. You cast magic simply by the words you speak and the attitude you live by.

Can anyone name another books series other than Harry Potter recently that actually got kids to read and be excited to read again?
It's definitely based on witchcraft though.

No, not really. Not even close to witchcraft.

If people are going to malign Harry Potter, better start doing it to Shakespeare, Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz too.

It is not witchcraft. It is fictional with fictional words making up spells that don't actually work.

It certainly looks like witchcraft to me and it has magic wands.

So, what excites people is "good"?

No, not really. Not even close to witchcraft.
Sorcery then.
Or 'magick'.

Malign?
Get over it.

Get over it.

When it comes to kids and reading, you bet your bottom dollar!

I will get over it only if you do first! To be honest, I really don't have anything to get over. I'm not maligning Harry Potter, I merely stated that if people are going to malign Harry Potter, than other things should be as well.

Obviously it matters big time what people (this includes kids) get excited by / with / about, especially children.

I actually have real world problems to worry about, not fictional children's characters with made up words.
You should be worried about what children get fed by the entertainment industry.

Oh I do, and I am right there with my own making sure they understand the difference between what is real and what isn't.

My hope is that other parents are doing the same.
