  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why are most Christians so accepting of magic

You think that i'm possibly wrong that Magicians are not doing real magic?

Even if the story/universe is based on witchcraft, horror, magic.. it's completely harmless because it is fantasy.

Horror movies with Satanic themes too?

I think you're wrong in thinking that real magick or however you want to call it, is impossible and never occurs and never has occurred.
But i assume you have never seen it happen in real life, or as a random participant.
That would definitely change your mind.
I happen to have been a random participant.
So i know impossible things are possible, and people (in my case a "street yogi", for lack of a better term) do it for money.
They probably pay a price themselves though..

You referenced "Demon Magicians" as if it is a reliable documentary. Not only did that show that you are easily fooled by the most amateur of video edits but how you don't even research before buying into things. Even children know those magicians don't have any real superpowers.

Have you watched Disney's hunchback of Notre Dame in where Frolo thought Esmeralda's using a cloud of smoke was witchcraft? Stories like Hunchback is based off the Dark Ages and people considered Gypsies to be evil because they thought their magic was real.

This depends on the motives and the intent. If someone is just using these elements for the sake of storytelling then it's nothing to worry about.

Good. I hope you will never argue about magicians on Demon Magicians being real demon summoning wizards ever again.

I Especially liked-"Whatever the reason, pretty much everything of and in the world that is loved and accepted has some kind of anti-christ or anti-christian influence behind it."

I had been a Catholic Christian my whole life until my dad died. Then I read the bible from beginning to end. And absorbed it. And loved it. Now, there is a constant battle in my head, because to really get away from evil, you have to leave the world. We are swimming in evil. Magic, Santa Clause, Easter egg hunts, "Anything goes" denominations, Astrology, Celebrity worship, Sports worship etc. I almost destroyed myself trying to live pure. I avoid evil when I can. I try to help others when I can. And I "draw the line" when it comes to anything occult. But your statement above about the world being antichrist, is spot on. I was raised on rock and roll. I was also born and raised in Memphis Tennessee. My Uncles went to school with Elvis. And I witnessed how he changed the entire world, myself included. Music is spiritually powerful. Much more than folks realize. After I read the Bible, I read the lyrics to all my favorite groups. And I discovered that rock and roll is very anti-christian. Some groups were very anti-christian. I have had to learn to moderate my thirst for holiness, because its not here. I have changed my choice of music groups to those who do not glorify evil. And pray for God to have his day and defend his name soon, or give me the strength to make it to my death. "Magic" is engrained in alot of lyrics in r n r. And Disney. We just have to find a way to be moderate, and prudent, as to what is just living in an evil world and getting by, Or consumed by it and part of it. Our home is not here. Sorry for rambling. Peace

Sorry, Cis.jd, but I, personally, think that you view is very naive. Nothing against you, but, we are in a spiritual battle and demons bring fame and fortune to those that honor them, instead of God, in order to deceive the world.

You're talking about fictional magic? or magic that you think is real? Do you lump in things here ("magic") that are unexplained phenomenon?
The line is blurred isn't it? Where does entertainment and a skilled person of "slight of hand and simple card tricks end and the use of demons and occult begin.

Just what I would expect from Satan and his master plan to deceive.

Your point?

There have been fake preachers since the dawn of Christianity. So what?

This demon magic and occult laced rock music is drawing people away from God...

It is the opposite of a Charlton pretending to be a man of God to make himself rich.

Just so you know... a very good friend of mine was saved at a Mike Warnke revival in my home town and is a 100% changed man and strong Christian.

God uses these fakes.

I don't agree.

Wishing someone well or following your own desires instead of God's.. is not even close to "casting a spell" or "casting dark magic".

Sure, if we are negative all the time... it will make us sour.. but we cannot just nonchalantly cast good or evil spells. That is just common courtesy and well wishing that is normal.

Especially Harry Potter which is witchcraft.
There is nothing harmful with the story of Harry potter. The problem is that it peaks the curiosity of young children in the religion of Wicca.

It makes it look fun and harmless. Powerful and inviting. We don't understand the power in that and the impressionability of our youth.

From: The US witch population has seen an astronomical rise

Those have shown that Wicca grew tremendously over this period. From an estimated 8,000 Wiccans in 1990, they found there were about 340,000 practitioners in 2008. They also

Harry Potter was released in 1998 and since then there has been an upsurge in people involved in Wicca. Especially, you got it, among the generation known as the "millennial's".... Who woulda thunk... right?

from: Number of witches rises dramatically across U.S. as millennials reject Christianity

Witchcraft and other pagan religious practices increased in the U.S. over the past few decades, with millennials turning to astrology and tarot cards as they turn away from Christianity and other traditionally dominant Abrahamic religions.

It's not "harmless". It's drawing a whole generation from God and their salvation. Even amongst children raised in a Christian home.

Look at the statistics... they do not lie... an upsurge in those involve in Wicca and other related religion since 1998 when Harry Potter was released.

You cannot just sleep through this. Our youth did start to read... but, they were reading material that drew them away from God.

You cannot ignore the facts.. Sorry.

I actually have real world problems to worry about, not fictional children's characters with made up words.
If you care about "real world problems" and you have children... you will care when they stop going to church, come home with black eye shadow and tell you that they were playing with a ouija board..... you will care.

Oh I do, and I am right there with my own making sure they understand the difference between what is real and what isn't.

My hope is that other parents are doing the same.
Well, there is the difference... You will sit your kids down and explain that witchcraft is real and very dangerous and that God is the ultimate power and that the occult and witchcraft is the work of Satan?

I hope so. If you don't, they will be drawn to it like a moth to a flame. The way it was intended.

Tell them that it is just entertainment... and you will lose them.

Great post. Not many see this.

We are "in the world" not "of the world". Satan has a corner of all entertainment. It is real, it is not going away. Our kids are immersed in it.

We ARE in a spiritual battle for our souls and the souls of our children.

Satanic influence is everywhere. We cannot get away from it... and.. time is short.

Christ said that in the end times it would be "like it was in the days of Noah"

In the days of Noah people were eating and drinking and living their lives all the time their thoughts were evil continually.. Nobody was thinking about God... They were going about their lives oblivious to their evil thoughts and nature..

Sound familiar?

Score... one more point for Satan... "It's harmless fantasy"..... Boom... "another one bites the dust"
