Why are most Christians politically right wing?

it is time to find someone you can vote FOR for positive reasons even if that person is not of the two oligarchic parties.
Exactly, the country need three official parties even if it means thirds instead of halves across the nation. That way two will have to align to have power and if the newest party just happened to actually be of non greedy people, there is a good chance social justice and reforms could be gained.

Ever watch Leave it to Beaver? Twin beds in every room and a well stocked bar.

Honestly, seriously, when I was a kid I thought white married couples did sleep in separate beds. They all did on television. There were no black couples on television to see that it was just a television thing, but I'd been in enough black homes to verify that black married couples slept in one large bed.

Except the Ricardos. But Ricky was Cuban, which I could clearly see was different.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Any question why Jesus said to ignore the whole system and leave them to their folly, having the only reward they will ever get.

Where has socialism ever been successfully implemented on a large scale?
Again the threat to capitalism is not socialism, That is a cover. The threat is any kind of social safety net or justice where they may not be able to profit from. Heaven forbid anyone helped someone for free.

It's not about power at all. It's about the people. Socialism is for the people, not for the government.

Yes, that's what the "benevolent" government tells you, but do you really think that they're going to give up their power? They just pay you lip service and continue to exploit the citizens for their own gain. Which socialistic policies are for the people, might I ask?

I read a ?New Yorker? article a while ago that also took the phenomenon back to the Scopes trial, where evangelicals had the opportunity to attack the horrors of the eugenics movement but passed on that in favor of going after evolution. The author argued that, in doing so, they abdicated the moral high ground and solidified public opinion of them being anti-science cranks.

Judging by your post count, it seems you’re new around here. FYI: most of us have been through this argument a number of times. Your description of socialism is inaccurate and overly simplistic. Many nations have systems far more “socialist” than anything proposed by the current batch of Democrats, yet have thriving economies and healthy populations.

We share our resources in the military, too. That doesn't make us communists.

This may be one of the most astounding successes of Satan in hamstringing Christians in America: That a Christian can read clear instruction to the Body of Christ right out of the bible and run away screaming "Communists!"

Satan pulled a stunning fast one that time.

I tend to prefer communities take this responsibility on instead of the government. Private charity goes a long way in helping out those in need and is very much in line with Biblical teaching. The problem I have is giving a corrupt government more control, because we all know that government is so effective at implementing programs! *Curses the inefficiencies of the DMV*

Do you mind naming a few so I can take a look? And also where are the inaccuracies? I would like to have the opportunity to have my mind changed or offer a counter argument if necessary.

True and the coffers of the rich are not threatened unless by choice or a healthy tax advantage. But a large scale change in education and health care would see a lot of parasites moaning their lifestyle has suffered while the masses gain.

Perhaps people willingly sharing is not the same as being forced to. Perhaps the system worked because they all had the same beliefs; beliefs I don't think secular socialism is willing to concede to.
1) Nobody was forcing these people to be "Believers" or to share their possessions - in fact the vast majority of early Christians were among the poor and destitute, and many faced persecution and martyrdom for their faith, under a succession of Roman emperors!

2) Much of America's legal system is based on the Judeo-Christian tradition - there isn't a separate legal system for non-Believers.

3) Given that the early "Believers" decided to share their possessions while under the influence of the Holy Spirit, strongly suggests that God favored a communal societies based on equality/sharing - rather than those characterized by extreme inequality of "haves and have-nots!"

I don't think that observing how the apostles traveled with Jesus, and then attempting to apply that by the avenue of Communism or the military translates. What next, should we take the apostles' fashion advice and wear sandals and a tunic?
