Every year an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die in the world due to complications from seasonal influenza (flu) viruses. This figure corresponds to 795 to 1,781 deaths per day due to the seasonal flu.
Now let's look at Covid-19 deaths....
746,000 in 5 months so far this year...
6,500+ yesterday and it really wasn't a special day...
No kidding..."There's already one serial killer in this town. So why does it matter if there's a second one? Sure, this one is killing more people, but does that really matter at this point?"
I've sent my kids back to day care. My son is 1 and is too young for a mask at all. My daughter is almost 4. They manage to, for the most part, keep the masks on the kids in her class. I don't think keeping masks on kids older than is some sort of impossible task. Hard at the start, sure, but once it becomes routine...I'm just shocked that in view of these stats and the recent ones that children, who really don't understand the danger, are being allowed back in school. They are the ones who are going to have the most difficulties with masks. Especially during lunchtime.

Why Are Masks Triggering Conflict and Rage?
Interesting platitude, and yet people were allowed to stop wearing masks after the Spanish flu.A wise people never willingly surrenders its liberty because no government ever willingly surrenders its control of the people.
What if this was happening in the days of old ... lets say in the days of St Paul and Nero said, "Everyone wear mask till we have a cure for this virus" or "Everyone stay home that has flu like symptoms till we can regulate better what to do about it"
Nero would not only lock you up, but feed you to the lions if you disobeyed and that's why the NT has included in the Book of Romans alone to obey the laws and the magistrates. Remember the Word of God is forever and does not come back to Him void. heaven and earth may pass away, but my Words are forever.
Wear the mask and stay home if your sick
So you ignore the numbers, latch on to one fuzzy word and throw out the the entire thing.
I've had enough of this.
What numbers are accurate, and how do you know?
So if the facts are wrong, you're right. But even if they facts were different, you'd still be right.
Simply asserting the same thing over and over isn't all that convincing.
Wearing a mask in public is not sacrificing the world.
On the other hand, dead people don't really get to enjoy the freedoms they once had.
Yes, for example by using their freedom to enact laws which prevent people put them at risk from being in public. Seems simple enough.
No one knows truly, not me or you.
Recap, point was if others wish to protect themselves against said virus, then THEY can do so.
The afterlife. No im not debating that here. But again, whats point of living if you cant be free?
Again, if they want to take no risk, then THEY can take the precautions, not me. Im not putting them at risk if THEY protect themselves. I'm the one taking risk.
Address that. Please.
Such a dumb platitude.Interesting platitude, and yet people were allowed to stop wearing masks after the Spanish flu.
So then they could be higher, as shown by the excess death statistics from this year. You might actually be under-reacting to the problem.
Yep, they are. Hence laws and policies requiring mask use in public.
You seem to be laboring under the misconception that freedom is binary. That is, that freedom requires the complete lack of restrictions on any possible action you'd want to take. Perhaps you can come up with a few ideas of why that it totally unworkable and get back to us with something more aligned with how rights work in a civilized society?
I did, last time you posted it. You even responded to it (granted, by ignoring what I wrote and just reasserting the same mistake). You're ignoring the fact that you going out in public without a mask does put other people at higher risk than if you'd chosen to behave responsibly in the face of a global pandemic.
All of the rest of the nonsense about avoiding a mask being freedom, hand-washing being government tyranny, making up stories about why the numbers must be wrong, acting as if 160,000 people dying is no big deal - all those just read like rationalizations to convince one that they are OK ignoring doing what they really know is the right thing to do, but they just don't feel like it.
I'm guessing once this gets bad enough people will eventually come around. Hopefully without doing any serious harm to their families or friends in the process. That would be quite a burden to live with, knowing that they could have done something to help the problem and instead resorted to catchy-sounding spin to justify anti-social behavior.

And they could be lower. Suicide rates go up to around this covid stuff. You could be over reacting.
you missed my point.
I dont care what your definition of freedom is. I'm not gonna argue over that word. Freedom to me is simply the ability to choose without restriction or punishment. In this case, im talking about masks.
I think this will be my last post to you UNLESS you address my point.
"Overreacting" by bearing the terrible burden of wearing a mask when I go grocery shopping. Oh no. How could I possibly live with myself if I err on the side of caution when there's a deadly disease going around that killed 160,000+ Americans in a few months. I'm sure I'm going to regret not ignoring their deaths and instead writing empty platitudes about how FREEDOM! is more important than their lives.
You keep saying this, and yet your post can seem to provide no evidence that it is true. Seems to be a pattern, in fact.
I can see why you'd want to sidestep a definition of freedom. Because I can use your definition to show that it is freedom for restaurant employees to not wash their hands after using the bathroom. Or for one to drive drunk. Or for people to steal from small businesses. Or to kidnap children.
After all, those are all "simply the ability to choose without restriction or punishment", which by your definition is FREEDOM! Perhaps you can start to see the issue with your formulation of rights and responsibilities of living in a free society.
It would be easier to take this seriously if any of the claims of "missing the point" or "ignoring the point" didn't come right after me directly addressing those points.
Oh, hey, we hadn't seen the "covid is just like the flu (if you ignore all the facts about it)" argument yet. Do proceed, I need the laugh.Did you wear a mask before covid19 during flu season?

From Worldometer:
Every year an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die in the world due to complications from seasonal influenza (flu) viruses. This figure corresponds to 795 to 1,781 deaths per day due to the seasonal flu.
One major difference:
FLu: You get the flu and if you get over it, you move on with your life.
Covid: You get Covid and if you get over it, you have a high percentage chance of long term (possibly permanent) damage to your lungs, brain, kidneys, or heart.
