Why are Angels taller than us?

So I was walking through a corridor, and got the sense in the Spirit that there were two tall angels following behind me, collecting my prayers. I sensed them. And then four others ahead, two at each door as I was entering into my place of work. Again, very tall. 8 feet or higher.

I thought to myself, a question I probably had been thinking about for some time, and then thought it out loud: "G-d why are angels taller than men? (I mean, why not the same size, why taller, what purpose does it serve?)" to which I got the immediate reply:

"For man is made a little lower than the angels."

A reference to Psalm 8:5:
"You have made him a little lower than the angels..."

literally.

"Heh. You're right," I said. "I forgot. Hehe. That's cool. Thanks for showing me that."

That's why they're taller.

Anyways, thought I'd share here.

Hey.. not sure where "collecting prayers" is written. For me since there are.. countless angels.. unless one has been there seen them. And then based on just 2 of which I can speak.. not all are taller than man. This is based only what I have seen.

As for Heb 2:7 ..one its talking about Christ. Not height at all. He was all man yet God.

Even if we were the same height as them at one time, I think we have since lost stature, due to the corruption we are subject to, which they are not. So, I would imagine that fallen angels are shorter than Yah's Messengers

Fallen angels are still the same height, because there is no generation degeneration of DNA with them.

Size is not important. Why would height matter to God? What proofs are there that all angels are tall?

It's actually both and...

Sometimes we only focus on the part of scripture we're familiar with. Sometimes it takes a simple question to see the same scripture also saying something we've not seen before, that's in addition to what you already know from it. It's like uncovering a bit more of the light.

It's actually both and...

Sometimes we only focus on the part of scripture we're familiar with. Sometimes it takes a simple question to see the same scripture also saying something we've not seen before, that's in addition to what you already know from it. It's like uncovering a bit more of the light.

There is a passage in Revelation describing how an angel gathered the prayers of the faithful and offered them with much incense.

Since angels are non-material, they cannot be measured.

Strongs dictionary for lower....

châçêr, khaw-sare'; a primitive root; to lack; by implication, to fail, want, lessen:—be abated, bereave, decrease, (cause to) fail, (have) lack, make lower, want.

I would say the “little lower” refers to power and not to the stature. The angels are more powerful then we.

Actually some angels look like us or we couldn't have entertained them and been unaware. It's in Hebrews 13:2 .

Good questions. Since I have seen my guardian angels, I know they are massively tall. As to the wicked ones, they too may suffer degeneration but since they do not have generation, it is not a deflect that would be reflected in their height unless they get hunched over or something. Hmmm need to ponder this more.

Besides, there is no mention of a height change in Satan. Daniel chapter 10 gives some accounts of angels contending with demons. Terms like "the prince of Persia" are used to describe a demon governing over a certain region. The angel speaking to Daniel (possibly Gabriel) was delayed by this demon and Michael was needed to step in for support. So the strength is still there. he is definitely more powerful that some angels, and is definitely stronger than his demons.

I like how C.S. Lewis describes angels in his book, Perelandra - Wikipedia: he basically says that angels only take on an appearance of being solid, so that we can see them, and they can just as well appear as a dragon or a giant or humanoid, etc...In the book, there is one from mars who is more like some kind of mineral. Then, there are two other mammoth ones and he describes them as if being in constant motion, yet standing still and one was feminine and one was masculine, which is not to say that they were male or female since they are sexless...very interesting
