Yes, the beast and the false prophet. You can take ONE verse from Rev. and maybe ONE other verse from the entire bible that do in fact seem to say that sinners will indeed live forever in torment, and you would have to put a thousand times more weight on them than the multitude of verses that say stuff like the wages of sin is DEATH, not to mention all the verses that speak of God's righteous judgment.Take note:
Revelation 20:10 (NASB)
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
I don't have to answer to you. But you have to answer to God.I look forward to you answering my arguments instead of saying you look forward to see me argue with God. By the way, do you in fact look forward to such a thing?
Because those who repent will receive mercy. Why? How?
I didn't steal your car.If you refused to repent for stealing my car, would I be justified in gouging your eyes out?
The false prophet being a human. God indeed punishes in fire forever.Yes, the beast and the false prophet. You can take ONE verse from Rev. and maybe ONE other verse from the entire bible that do in fact seem to say that sinners will indeed live forever in torment, and you would have to put a thousand times more weight on them than the multitude of verses that say stuff like the wages of sin is DEATH, not to mention all the verses that speak of God's righteous judgment.
actually everlasting is outside of time, no time at all would have passed. So time wise one year is longer than everlasting Hell.
Only in this life.
The point is how God views rebellion against Him (sin).
Deuteronomy 28:53 (NASB)
53 "Then you shall eat the offspring of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters whom the LORD your God has given you, during the siege and the distress by which your enemy will oppress you.
So no one spends any time at all in hell then?
You don't have to "answer to me," but it's common courtesy to answer questions and address the arguments instead of brushing them off with "you are confused" and "I look forward to see you argue with God."I don't have to answer to you. But you have to answer to God.
How does people receiving mercy make it fair that those who don't shall burn forever?Because those who repent will receive mercy.
OK, but someone did. Would I be justified in gouging his eyes out?I didn't steal your car.
they spend their existence there, not their time.
How can one be tormented outside of time?
No hint?Yes, and no hint in scripture of any other punishment beyond that. Is God unjust if those folks are not burning in hell now?
OT does not overrule NT.And the fulfillment:
"With their own hands compassionate womenhave cooked their own children,
who became their food
when my people were destroyed.
The Lord has given full vent to his wrath;
he has poured out his fierce anger.
He kindled a fire in Zion
that consumed her foundations." (Lamentations 4:10-11)
"O Daughter of Zion, your punishment will end;
he will not prolong your exile. (Lamentations 4:22)
Again, was God unjust for ending their punishment?
I do. And I also see God's merciful warnings of the "eternal fire".Don't you see the difference between killing someone and torturing them forever?
What haven't I answered? You don't have to "answer to me," but it's common courtesy to answer questions and address the arguments instead of brushing them off with "you are confused" and "I look forward to see you argue with God."
Jesus is God. Are you saying we don't have to answer to God for what we do?BTW, I'm not going to answer to God. Jesus has answered for me already. He IS the answer
Salvation is only for those who repent and believe in Jesus. How does people receiving mercy make it fair that those who don't shall burn forever?
The Christian response would be to forgive as God commanded. What He does and what He commands of us are not the same. We are sinners. He is omniscient, omnipotent and righteous.OK, but someone did. Would I be justified in gouging his eyes out?
just as easily as one can be in heaven outside of time.
"So it's not about what people actually do, it's about whether or not the one who is judging is all-knowing or not? What haven't I answered?
Yes. Jesus has already answered for us. He IS the answer, the way and the life. He IS your righteousness.Jesus is God. Are you saying we don't have to answer to God for what we do?
To be more accurate, salvation is for everyone, it's already a done deal. And then we (possibly) get to make a choice to "accept" or "reject" it.Salvation is only for those who repent and believe in Jesus.
So the more you know about a person, the more justified you are in torturing him? The more power you have, the more justified you are in torturing him? The more righteous you are, the more justified you are in torturing him?The Christian response would be to forgive as God commanded. What He does and what He commands of us are not the same. We are sinners. He is omniscient, omnipotent and righteous.
But in essence, what you are saying here is that we should be more forgiving and merciful than God.
And again, eternal death doesn't mean eternal life. It means the opposite.
Do you see more than two bible verses that seemingly say that hell means eternal suffering?
