  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why almost all coal was made during the same period

Mainly the vid mentions how it's formed. Why it formed mostly in the period was a draw down in Co2 because two land masses collided and form pangaea supercontinent that caused atmospheric conditions to change, temperatures plummeted.

Coal was formed during the flood as described in genesis
How? What was the process that created the coal? What was it created from? Where did all the heat and pressure come from?

I’ve seen that one before. It completely ignores the heat generated by the rain, runaway tectonic skating. It also ignores the heat required to dry out the water on (the movie claims day 120ish) the land would have boiled alive anything alive.

It also states that raised strata cannot be formed by normal physical processes which completely ignores the well understood process of erosion.

As a movie for the non academic I can see why it is persuasive but even my high school geography education can see so many errors it’s apparent the movie is not very well researched.

All coal WASN'T made at the same time. The video is wrong in that regard. Very wrong.

Large coal formations date back at least 420 million years. Some coal formations are as young as 2.6 million years.

The MAJORITY of easily accessible black coal was made in two "short geological periods". Those were the Carboniferous period, from about 360 to 300 million years ago, and from mid to later parts of the Permian (about 299 to 250 million years ago).

However, there are also substantial coal deposits that are younger than that. Most of the brown coal in North America is about 50 to 20 million years old. Most brown coal is Australia is between 220 and 15 million years old.

I opened that video at a random point. I heard two outright lies and two misrepresentations (one by omission) within the first two minutes of watching. So, I closed it.

Why should I believe something that is so clearly populated with falsehoods?

Nonsense.
God either created the coal when He was creating the Earth, or it was created during the flood. The Earth is approxomately 6000 years old according to the Bible

According to what the Earth itself is showing us, it is WAY older than 6000 years. The Earth can not lie about about itself.

Where does it say in Genesis how coal was formed?

It doesn't.

I believe coal was embedded into the earth during the Creation Week as an "Easter egg" to be discovered later.

Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Psalm 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

That may be.

But it has only been in existence since 4004 BC.

No, but science could lie about her, if she wanted to.

How else can you be a believer?
A believer, as in one who just believes things ;
a naif, a gullible person. Farmers farm, runners
run, believers believe things

You figure this god did as you say, then
faked all the clear and unmistakable evidence
that the earth is in fact billions of years old?

That or possibly there's a flaw in your
figuring about where truth really lies in
your bible.

It's not in "Jesus is a sheep" or Pi=3.0.

Nor in 6000 y.o earth and noahs ark.

It's an insult to such God as there may be-
and the intelligence he granted you- to indulge in
such nonsense.

God either created the coal when He was creating the Earth, or it was created during the flood.

False dichotomy.

Those are not the only choices, even for a 'Bible believing' Christian.

For instance, the Jesuits who taught me geography had zero problem with the concept of a 4.5 billion year old earth. They did have LOTS of problems with the concept of an earth that was 'young'.

One of the most memorable conversations I've ever had the privileged to listening to one occurred when one of my science teachers, a monseigneur in his late 60s, very patiently explained to another student (in his late teens) that "no, dinosaurs did not exist at the same time as Jesus" and listed the reasons why.

The Earth is approxomately 6000 years old according to the Bible

According to some narrow, literal interpretations of the Bible, yes. However, these assume the genealogies of both the New and Old testaments are accurate and not - for instance - largely symbolic and poetic, as are other lists of genealogies from similar cultures in the same geographic area at the time (Sumerian, Egyptian, Bablyonian and Assyrian kings lists, for example).

If He did indeed "fake all that clear and unmistakable evidence," then you'd be saying He lied in Genesis 1.

So either way, your agenda is make God out a liar.

Did the Jesuits teach you that as well?
