If God told you what month or season he was going to come, don't you reckon - again - that people would miraculously turn from their sinful ways? Who cares about a date? All I care about is living for him and serving him with faith - like he told us too. He didn't say "work out what year i'm coming back so you can get ready".
Your bible passage about the theif and the watchman just backed up my point...
No, I don't reckon people would turn from their evil imaginations. For instance God tells us "AS THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE". He also tells us that Noah was a preacher of righteousness. Noah had about 120 years to build this giant ship on land. You can only imagine the people scoffed as they saw this nitwit Noah prepairing for a flood. What do you think Noah said to these people? What was the rightouesness that Noah "preached"? "God is going to destroy the world!" Why, but that sounds hateful, but, that was what God had planned to do - therefore it was righteous. So who was prepaired and spared at that time of judgment upon the world? Those who God warned.
He didn't say "work out what year i'm coming back so you can get ready".
Psalms 119:4 -
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
What season is in view? The season of the latter rain, the second half of the great tribulation, which we are now in.
Revelation 11:3-18 3 And I will give power unto my
two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them,he must in this manner be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven,
that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit
shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which
spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt,
where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Who are these two witnesses? These two candlesticks, two olive trees who stand before God that have power to shut heaven that it not RAIN in the days of their prophecy? They are ALL true believers who bring the Word of God(the testimony of Jesus Christ) to the world. If any man shall hurt them "fire proceedeth out of their mouth" and they must DIE in this manner. In other Words if any man tries to raise up against the Word of God, He must DIE by the Word of God. The beast who ascends out of the bottomless pit to make war against the true believers of Gods Word is Satan as He is given control of the local congragations where the "two" witnesses(true believers) were supposed to be, and has killed them (silenced them - and cast them out of the churches). For further exposition read :The End Of The Church Age.. And After"
So all and sundry set about trying to figure out what year it is, using the time-honored devices of misinterpretation, eisegesis, wishful thinking, knight-jump exegesis, and wholesale speculation. That's why they have to keep shoving the date for our Lord's return forward; to avoid having to admit that when it comes to figuring out that magic year, none of the date-setters can hit the floor with his hat.
Probably because date-setters have been proven wrong again and again and again, and there's little reason to believe that today's date setter is one whit more accurate than yesterday's.
Daniel 12:4 - But thou, O Daniel,
shut up the words, and seal the book,
even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and
knowledge shall be increased.
Daniel 12:9 - And he said, Go thy way, Daniel:
for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
A date must harmonize with the REST of the dates in history according to the Bible if it is to hold ANY merit. It must be able to be etablished with the ENTIRE Bible. It is the POSSIBILITY, not the CERTAINTY.
Interesting point BUT I was told (which makes perfect sense by a wise person oregal) that we are JUST to have faith in God. Yes there will be and end and I wish that it would be sooner than later that is why I got so wrapped up in this but the bottem line is that we have to rely on God not a time table!
God bless you friend!!!!
I agree completely. We know nothing without Gods Word. And "
faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". Im still the phase of "confirming" if this is ALL so, because if it is ALL so, then my outlooked has changed.
