I'd take the athiest since, as others have said, religion and politics should be sepearate. Islam is one of the religions least likely to recognize a seperation of Church and State. It would be different if it was an Athiest and a Buddhist or something.
And it depends a bit on why he's an Athiest to me. If he has a healthy dose of scepticism, which seems to be a cardinal virtue of Athiests, it's a valuable asset for a politician.
