I'd like to thank those who considered me to be a mod, I'm very flattered!

However, much as I am tempted to accept, I have to say no I'm afraid, since I have a full-time job for the summer, and university is starting back soon: I now have precious little time for CF, and when I do I enjoy my care-free browsing!

Thanks again,

Jon

It is genius like this:

An old country story to make a point (I hope):

One evening as the sun started to set in the west, two good ol' boys were sitting on the front porch of their house way down in the deep piney woods. One turned to the other and said, "we either need to go inside or go get the dogs and go coon huntin' 'cause its gettin' dark."

After a short discussion the dicission was made to go coon huntin.' Upon arival at one of their favoite hunting spots, they built at a fire, turned the dogs loose, leaned back and proceeded to wait for the bailful wail of the hounds indicating that they had treed game.

They didn't have long to wait. It sounded like the number of dogs had doubled from all the howling and barking. The two fellowes followed the sound of the dogs an found all the dogs trying to out jump each other to get at what ever as up in the tree. The two fellows grabbed the trunk of the rather small tree and begain to shake it as hard as they could. But to no avail. What ever was up in that tree wasn't going to be shaken down. Finally one fellow said to the other one, you hold the flashlite while I climb the tree and see if I can get closer and shake that thing down. As the one who was climbing the tree got closer to the unknown game the fellow on the ground shined the light up into the tree. All of a sudden there was a horible scream, followed by frantic movement up in the tree accompanied by fierce snarls and growls. The light was reflected back to the ground from two great big green eyes and some very long fangs. The fellow up in the tree started shouting "Shoot! Shoot! The fellow on the ground shouted back, "If I shoot I might hit you instead of that bobcat!" The fellow up in the tree shouted back, "Go ahead and shoot! One of us has got to have some relief!!!"

I truly hope everyone is ready for some relief in getting all these new rules in place.

I'll write more, and more directly, tomorrow.

Respectfully, your friend and brother in Christ,
Doc

and this:

Series of events in that chain:

1. Big fight after NE posted the thread about Honor.

2. Several thought that the rules process was hopeless due to fighting and began to post the idea of a split across several threads.

3. Someone pm'ed Erwin saying that the Adventist forum was in chaos and suggesting a split.

4. Erwin dispatched the forum manager Letalis to investigate, and he also pm'ed the only two Adventists he knew very well, which would be Sophia and I since we served on staff, and I worked with him in theology. He wanted to get our take on the situation.

If he pmed others I am not sure.

5. Woob, apparently seeing the reaction pushing for a split decided to make a poll. However, by that time he had already re-thought the split apparently and constructed his poll options to steer people towards the middle ground option of cooperation.

6. Letalis came into the poll thread and made it plain that he wanted the opinion of the members and that a split was possible. Therefore the poll was not part of our wiki process but it was something that Erwin himself, through Letalis, was watching. That is a valid poll.

They wanted to assess how bad things were.

TrustandObey has said she didn't want a poll but just wanted to work behind the scenes for a split.

7. However, the poll had three options and would likely go to a plurality with no majority. So we reconstructed the poll options to be either yes or no, essentially.

Woob insisted on the portion regarding stricter rules because it was clear (though perhaps enlarged by the recent fight) that things were not working as they were.

8. I was going to re-post the poll but was busy so Sophia did in response to Woob's request. Since she is on staff she could lock the old one. It was locked and the new poll was started.

9. Mankin, apparently seeing either the poll or the calls for a split, started his own poll wondering where people would go.

So.....

Here is my take on the above.

The one who contacted Erwin is the one who set in motion the poll process, even though Woob beat them to the punch.

If folks want to start their own section they can, by following the CF guidelines. But to split a section you need approval from those in it.

Erwin was not going to split it just because he got some pm's but wanted to get everyone's take. Since Letalis saw a poll already started he worked with it. And despite some coming in who hadn't been around in a while, it would have passed without them. It would have been the same if you took out the non-eligibles. It had several traditionals as well on the side of not splitting.

In other words, the poll did what it was supposed to and showed the general outlook of the forum.

Moreover, I have no problem with someone coming back from a break and voting to not split something they may want to participate in later.

Several have gone for long breaks and come back. I don't see that as bad. And they should still have a voice.

This was not under the wiki process, and has not been included in the wiki poll numbering. Therefore the "who is eligible" poll wouldn't directly apply, but even if it did the "regulars" portion was in regard to who was included that had another icon. It was to show that we knew who was Adventist from their disclosing it before, though they did not bear and Adventist icon. It did not apply to those who came back from a break because it was about WHAT they were, not how often they had been here lately.

The poll became "official" when Erwin dispatched Letalis, and Letalis clarified his intentions.

which reinforces my choices for forum moderators. I could have posted similar examples for Trust and Sophia, I'm sure they'll forgive me.

Forgive you for what little bro?

I wish you could do it, but I certainly understand since I'll be in the same boat (but instead of a job, I have children).

They are a job :)

TrustandObey,
I just logged on for the first time in a couple weeks. Thanks for the pm informing me that I was nominated. I guess I missed out by being gone. This is my last year teaching at this school as I am retiring from teaching and going full time into oil and gas production after this year. I don't think I will have the time to devote to moderating on this forum. I do appreciate who ever it was who nominated me. I probably spend way too much time on this silly computer now. Becomming a moderator would demand much more. So thanks but I have to decline.

God Bless

Series of events in that chain:

1. Big fight after NE posted the thread about Honor.
I was accused by Trust of causing the fight and then leaving the forum in a mess. I think Trust owes me an apology. Lets see if she can practice what she preaches.

2. Several thought that the rules process was hopeless due to fighting and began to post the idea of a split across several threads.
who were these people?

3. Someone pm'ed Erwin saying that the Adventist forum was in chaos and suggesting a split.

Again I think I am owed an apology. As I did not cause the problem.

hummmm, Trust you said I was the one causing the chaos. When all along it was you how was creating chaos.

Hey Everyone,

As sad as I am to write this, I'm going to have to respectivly decline my nomination for moderator at this point. :(

I want everyone to know that I truely appreciated it and was touched by the support you guys have been giving me about this.

To be honest, I actually really want to be a mod. I was very tempted to say yes, and still am..but it would not be fair of me at this point. There are some things in my life which are up in the air, and I don't want to let you all down if I was voted in and then suddenly didn't have the time to be here much.

So..here's what I'd like to propose instead. :) For the time being I'm going to be here as much as I can to help out in the rule making and voting and such, while I deal with my life stuff and find out what's going on. I should know where I stand within a month or two, an if it comes out that things work out so I can be here I'd like to apply for mod then and we can go through the election process. ^_^

This okay with you guys?

Love and Blessings,
Sarah

That sounds great. :) I hope things settle down in your life soon.

It has been. Look at the exploding growth in the mission field and the large educational and medical work.
Is that the reason you believe the Adventist church was raised? To have exploding growth in the mission field and to have large educational and medical works? The Roman Catholic church has lapped the Adventist church on all counts.

By the way, I have been very, very busy at our Campmeeting over a period of several days and am now just catching up on this thread, and other threads, forums, etc., especially where I have my own forum to administer, moderate, etc.

What is it's purpose?

JM
It's purpose was and is to finish the mission of its leader which was to reveal the fulness of the character of the Ruler of the Universe. When that is done we will all enjoy the life eternal that has been promised. [BIBLE]John 10:10[/BIBLE][BIBLE]John 17:3[/BIBLE]
