Who Wants to be a Mod?

Any outside help we bring in is going to LOVE us for making all kinds of rules for them to know and enforce.

Don't overlook the effect of this on members of this forum. The task becomes more onerous when new and unique rules are introduced that make moderating this forum substantially different from what is required to moderate the average forum.

I noticed we don't have any reports again today.

Just SEEING them, and realizing how silly some of them look might help more than we ever thought possible? I don't know.

I won't be around much anymore after I start college, so I wish you guys all the best with this for real.

I'm sure there has been many a moderator eye roll at some of the reports that have come in.

I, for one, didn't realize how many reports come in, and I definitely didn't realize how trivial some of them look.

Honestly, it really has changed my perspective of what constitutes a TRUE rule violation and it would have to be something pretty bad for me to tap on the ol' report button from now on.

I think it was a really good idea too.

Well, I also saw you being asked to edit some stuff too Night. I've been asked to edit stuff before and really after seeing the process now, I see that it had to go above "petty" in their eyes for me to be asked to do it.

Here's an interesting thing about the process though that I'm sure some have already discovered....if you posted in a report thread, and someone adds on to it later, you get an e-mail that there's a new poster.

It tells WHO wrote the addition and what they said.

So it's really NOT "anonymous" at all.

Notice I said MOST were treated as the petty whining they were. Some of the reports against me had merit, I admit, and I made the requested post edits.

But 9 times is completely preposterous! It's obvious that some were just reporting anything I said in order to have me banned.

Well, I can try, but I can't speak for those who are so hyper-sensitive they perceive almost anything as a flame.

Many times I just look at the report in disbelief and wonder how what I said could possibly be construed as a flame. Often I think I am just being realistic and saying things how they are to me and the reporter goes bananas, claiming I was attacking and insulting when no such thing was ever intended on my part.

I can speak quite frankly at times, I know. I think it makes for interesting forum reading. It is unfortunate that we now have to neuter and emasculate our posts for the benefit of those who are so easily offended.

Also, too many cannot distinguish between attacking ideas and theology instead of the person. I have noticed that in some of my reports as well. As long as people cannot separate themselves from thier theology, they will take things personally. So, your challenge may not be successful Trust. Not necessarily because of what I say, but because of how others perceive it.

Night, it won't matter what the people on here feel about your posts, it has to go through moderation, right? And obviously they don't always agree with the person reporting the post, so......game on!

I have a pretty good idea of who logged the majority of mine.

I really prefer SDA moderators over non-SDA moderators in the SDA main forum and sub-forums.
