Is that the reason you believe the Adventist church was raised? To have exploding growth in the mission field and to have large educational and medical works?

1) These are only evidences that we are working vs. the perception that we aren't doing anything.
2) These are merely tools by which we conduct outreach, etc.. If you read the Gospels very carefully you'll note that Christ spent most of His time in healing and education. It's called letting your light shine.

The Roman Catholic church has lapped the Adventist church on all counts.

Ah, but they are much, much bigger. For even churches bigger than us we have done quite well. For churches our our size very few that I know of have their own seminary. And there aren't many churches that have their own universites and scads of colleges.

Okkaaay, guys. We're totally off topic now. This is supposed to be the thread where we are organizing who will go up for mod elections. :) It took me going back to I think page 27 to even find the last list of possibilities!!!

Lets get back on track.

That sounds great. :) I hope things settle down in your life soon.

Thank you. :) God willing.

So where do we stand now on those nominated, seconded, and accepted?

I was thinking the same. :) Here's a list, if I have anything missing please let me know guys. (Whew that took awhile to go through the posts):

Mjona3 - Accepted, on the condition that we do not get enough (at least 3 SDA's)
Nominated by TrustAndObey (in a different thread)
Seconded by NightEternal ( and Red)

IceDragon - Accepted, but not in election yet
Nominated by NightEternal
Seconded by ?

TheCountryDoc - Accepted and is in election

djconklin - Currently Unknown
Nominated by Red
Seconded by Trust&Obey and IntoTheCrimsonSky

Reddogs - Accepted, but the terms are not being met so currently unknown

TrustAndObey - declined
Sophia7 - declined
Tall73 - Declined
Jimlamore - Declined
IntotheCrimsonSky - Declined (Hopefully temporarily)
StormyOne - Declined
Jon0388g - Declined
SassySDA - Declined

As you all can see, we aren't left with too many. So many of the nominated have declined. :( I think we need to get Ice's election going if he'll still accept, and find out how that turns out.

Also, Red..are you still willing? And djconklin? Will you accept?

At this point I think we might have to find help that aren't SDA's.

I don't remember declining. I do remember saying that I don't want to be moderator. However, we need a moderator, and I spend a lot of time on forums.

JM
What's that supposed to mean? {Thanks CrimsonSky for clarifying things.]

I don't want to be a mod here beacuse many people are unpleasent to eachother.

That does, however, mean that a mod is needed. And since some people have thought I could do a good job, consider my applicated tendered. However, if I feel like we already have good moderators then I will decline.

JM
(I would like to see at least 3 SDA moderators)

Sorry if I misunderstood your post, JM. :) There's been so much off topic stuff on this thread to search through. As I re-read it now I realize you did accept.

Here's what he means, guys:

I don't want to be a mod. In the best of times it is a thankless task. However, we do need mods here, and perhaps I could be one of them.

I am often on forums, due to being lazy at work.

JM

I'll change my post above to say you accepted. ^_^ If you're still willing, then we can get an election thread going, I'd assume! Just let Longhair know. (I'd do it but I need to go eat and such).

We can have conditions? Where do I find reddogs conditions?

Well, I guess technically we can have conditions. It's our own choice if we are accepting, right? :) Red did, but they were far from what happened. So now I'm not sure if he's accepted or declined.

Here's his post:

Well I guess I will have to amend and repost my idea of how we should proceed to make this work and the moderators we should try to get:

As I told TrustAndObey I accepted under one condition, that a slate of candidates be chosen and accepted and supported by all. We would present it to the 'constituents' as a package and let them know we support everyone in the slate. Everyone would stand and be voted on individually, but with united core support (thats us) presenting it as our recommended slate of candidates, I am sure the rest of the constituents would see our purpose in being united and vote for them all as a 'group' we recommend to be elected. My recommodation is for 7 moderators and one Supervisor/Super Moderator in total for the slate of candidates to be put for election as one package, and they would be:

Tall73 as (Supervisor/Super Moderator)-Nominated by Woobadooba
Seconded by Night (and Jon0388g and Red)
I know Tall73 wanted to decline, but we (the moderators) would do the work but we still need a experienced hand in guiding moderators through the changes and rules, theology and with organizing skills in setting up and guiding our forum who is seen as honest broker and respected by all.

Mjona3-Nominated by TrustAndObey (in a different thread)
Seconded by NightEternal ( and Red)

StormyOne-Nominated by Mjona3
Seconded by TrustAndObey ( and Red)
And I would like to ask Stormy to accept as moderator as I have been with him in other forum issues and back him 100% unreservedly.

TheCountryDoc-Nominated by TrustAndObey
Seconded by Jon0388g ( and Red)

Jimlamore-Nominated by Tall73
Seconded by Red
And I would like to second Jim as I have seen his grasp of theology which we will need on questions of interpretation of Adventist beliefs in the Non-Debate area.

IntotheCrimsonSky Nominated by tall73,
Seconded by TrustandObey ( and Red)

And I would like to add David as I have seen his work in other forums especially on of Adventist beliefs and been impressed.
djconklin-Nominated by Red
Seconded by ?

Reddogs-Nominated by NightEternal
Seconded by Honor (and OntheDL)

TrustAndObey has declined
Sophia7 has declined

One note, I accepted with the understanding that I can only give my undivided attention when I am not at work (9-5) and of course Sabbath I set aside, when I feel I should only 'mod' to help a brother or sister that has fallen into a 'deep hole' to help them out.....This leads me to a importan point, we need to set up a quiet time in the debate forum so moderators can also have rest from their labors if posible, coparable to a Adentist nurse or doctor not working if possible on the Sabbath.

As a alternate moderator in case we cannot reach Jim or David declines I would like to nominate jon0388g. He is young but has a keen mind and mature in his presentations and manner.

Can be found on page 26 of this thread. :)

Thanx!

I agree--I have enough trouble on my plate now without adding extra. So, I decline.

Awww. :( Too bad, you had my vote. Okay, though. I'll change the current standings.

I think everyone that voted for "stricter rules to prevent personal attacks" should HAVE to be a mod in here.

:)

Okay, that's not realistic, but it was a good stab.

*lol* Wishful thinking, eh? ;) Right now I'm feeling sorry for Doc if he gets voted in..it doesn't look like help will be coming very soon at this rate.

I just think it's very unfortunate that people voted for basically MORE mod intervention knowing that we only have one person that's really moderating our area right now, you know?

The mods get the brunt of more rules, and most people didn't want a split, but they can't be mods either.

Hmpff.

I don't know what's gonna happen, but I sure hope that Doc does get voted in and that he'll have some help.

I don't think people expected we'd have such a tough job getting mods. It's sad how many declined because of the state of this board itself, rather than just being busy. I think that really says a lot about us as "Christians" and that we really need to re-evaluate ourselves, no?

If Doc's voted in and we run out of help, we will have to look for others beyond the Adventists, I guess. =\

It makes no sense to me either.

The majority voted against the split and rebuked those who wanted it, fought to have the forums blended, assured us that this would work if we just had more mods, and then more than half of those elected decline the mod position.

Not to mention that the one who waved the banner for no-split forums the most has completely disappeared.

Oooooookayyyy.......

Oh I totally agree (about us as Christians and about needing outside help).

Any outside help we bring in is going to LOVE us for making all kinds of rules for them to know and enforce.

I don't think anyone will jump at that little opportunity honestly.

Maybe it says something about the state of my sanity that I actually wanted to be moderator here, and still do. :D

Or maybe I just like bossing people around. :p (Just kidding, of course.)

Voting that in, on the idea that we will have more mods doesn't mean that the people themselves figured they would actually be a mod. There's always pleanty of other people to do this, right? ;)

For the record, I'm totally for more rules, by the way. So no offence meant to those who did vote for it. :)

Okay, that's not realistic, but it was a good stab.

Woob insisted on two issues in the one option, but I suspect many voted that way simply because they thought a split was the wrong approach, stricter rules or not.

In any case that ship has sailed.
