I am actually trying to decide whether or not to throw my own name into the willing to moderate ring, however, unless nominated and seconded, I think I will refrain from doing that.

I am really only posting this to say that I do have some interest in this, but only if somebody nominates me, and somebody else seconds it. If this actually happens, I still reserve the right to, either accept, or decline.

LOL! Go figure. I checked out the report, and Night's right..it's not really a "report". Someone reported me because I'd contacted a mod about getting a thread removed, and so the mod reported it to get the attention of a mod within that forum area.

I don't know where else to post this so I'll post it here (sorry Sarah...err, I mean mom).

I'd really like to see a "My Conversion Story" sticky where people can tell how they came to Christ. Out of any other subject, that is the one that fascinates me the most and I can't read a conversion story without crying.

Every conversion story I've ever heard seems to indicate that people (at least most) come to God through a tragedy. When they realize they really DON'T have control over their lives, and submit to the will of God.

When you hear these types of stories, it's a lot easier to answer the "why would God allow.........." question.

Who can I ask to hook us up with a sticky thread for this?

I don't know how many emails I've sent to people half finished..or to the wrong person..or deleted posts on blogs and stuff because of simply hitting the wrong button. I'm sure I'll be more careful when going to the edit now, though.

I'd love to nominate you, but I just don't actually know you enough. Although you seem level headed enough from the posts I've seen over the past while. If someone nominates you who's judgement I trust, I've got no problem with seconding. We could certainly use the help!

Post violation reports to the mods. You can access them in the link I provided Ice. You can also read what the reporters have to say about you in the comments.

I counted 13 for you. Mine actually only came to 6 when I recounted, not 9. Still, that is overkill.

Crimson, how did your name get in there? You are like one of the nicest people here!

i went and looked at those and only 4 were commented on the rest were "nv" ,i assume "no violation" one of them was a double post. so in actuality it is only 3. Most of them it looks like the were reported by conklin. This is going to be interesting. I can finally see if any thing is actually done about the harassment post i get. I've noticed that some people have backed way off.

well Ice when people can no longer throw a rock and hide their hand they reconsider throwing that rock.... making the reporting public has caused some to re-think clicking that report button..... and that's a good thing IMO....

it think it is good to report people, even me. when I see how I have stated things it really makes me have to take a double take. And reconsider how intense things can get. it is also nice to see what bothers others. I noticed I had been reported by one person 10 different times and "nv" was the result. This person could dish the trouble but not take it.

I can assure you that I did not report you ten times.

I did report you for what you said to OntheDL though. It wasn't him, it was me. I hadn't even seen it but my 13-year-old pointed it out to me. I don't think I had even gone in that thread before my son asked me to come look at what you had said.

I'm just sorry you don't consider OntheDL your brother. Who exactly do you consider to be your brothers and sisters?

And Ice, I do know what it's like to say things when you are upset or someone is ribbing you. That's why we need moderators and the report feature (and the ignore button), because we can't always take matters into our own hands.

I appreciate you apologizing to OntheDL, and I sincerely mean that. I know it's not always easy, especially when the person hasn't always been nice to you.

When I worked theology we would routinely get from 10-20 reports a day. Many of them were long and involved. And looking at the post itself is usually not enough, you have to look at the context, etc.

One report involved reading an entire 20 page exposition of a new scheme for explaining the Trinity using conventions of the Catholic west and the Orthodox East, capturing the strong points of both models. Then I had to assess whether it was acceptable under the Nicene rules.

So yes, this can all take quite some time for the mods. Please remember that when you are tempted to lose it.

Most of the time we agreed. On 2-3 a day we would need to go into more discussion, debate, etc.

You couldn't log on without having several pm's telling you of the latest reports. And you could tell who had been on by the volume on some days! There were some long-standing feuds, and some perpetual flamers.

The way they old rules worked you could get away with a ton before being banned.

He accepted in this thread, back in the beginning..and accepted in PM to me a few days ago. Turns out the reason there's been no election yet is because he has not replied to LongHair to confirm, when HE pmed him.

So now it's just waiting on that.
