Which is God's temple refered in 2 Thessalonians?

How can a Jewish temple be "the temple of God'?

whatever will be there for the Antichrist to proclaim himself as God.

but this was also done by the Roman army. after Christ, one of the Roman leaders erected a statue of himself in the second Temple as one of the pagan gods.

Even though I don't agree with the idea of a Jewish temple as "God's temple", wouldn't it make sense to be build as a mockery of the sacrifice of Christ since the Antichrist might considered himself the Messiah?
