OK. I can accept it when you admit ignorance. Think about it, though, you admit not knowing anything at all about what causes the basic forces!

Let me ask you this, then, would you think that they must stay the same? I mean if you don't know where they came from, or what cause them, how could you do anything but have an uninformed opinion also about this?

The bible talks of a different nature coming soon. It appears that this may be a short thread. Already I see the white flag of surrender.

No, I'm pretty sure what I see is a hole in our knowledge base that requires your money to fill in through basic research. Thank you for supporting the sciences.

No, I want your money so we can find answers and stop being ignorant.
You had hundreds of years and admit you know nothing about the most fundamental forces and where they come from, and what they are. You want more money than the trillions already wasted to get to being ignorant?

And yet you don't know empirically either.
Misery loves company.

You do realize flaming me as a "loser rat hole" is going to get you infracted, right?
Now now. Tell the truth. That was referring to spending good money after bad and flushing it down a toilet. The hole of waste that gets no results as you admitted science was! Getting an infraction for that would be like getting a speeding ticket for pointing at a freeway!

No, I've actually only had 21.

and admit you know nothing about the most fundamental forces and where they come from, and what they are.

And we've learned quite a bit, haven't we?

You want more money than the trillions already wasted to get to being ignorant?

Oh yes. If we can maintain the same rate of knowledge acquisition, its a bargain!

Misery loves company.

No doubt.

Science doesn't get results? Have you read a research periodical? Ever?

J Neurosci -- Table of Contents (3 Nov 2010, 30, (44))

Strange, must be a fluke week in neuroscience, huh? ^_^

We were talking about science, it predates you.

Not about the thread topic.

Now remember the thread is not about setting science up as a god on a pedestal here. It is about what is known on the important basic forces of the universe of man.

I was being facetious.

Yes, I know, its a tu quoque. If science can't answer some random, arbitrary question, you get to throw it all out the window and claim your "different states" hypothesis as fact.

Be clear.

Well, what should the penalty be for ignorance of science? You seem to suggest that the penalty should be to throw more money at it. I would suggest that it merely be sidelined in the creation debate, because it has so little grip, and so much admitted ignorance.

Be clear.

Why?

Well, what should the penalty be for ignorance of science?

Well, you seem to think it should be to abandon it and plunge the world into a Dark Age.

You seem to suggest that the penalty should be to throw more money at it.

Of course. The more basic research the better!

Not really. Evolution is a field with lots of data.

Relax. Putting the physical body of knowledge in it's place in plunges no one anywhere!

Of course. The more basic research the better!
Why? Has it unfolded the mystery of what gravity and time, and space and the fundamental forces are? No.

Not really. Evolution is a field with lots of data.
I think that field is well fertilized indeed. I would hardly call it 'data'.

I agree, it should be pretty much our top priority as a civilization.

Impatience, impatience, tsk tsk tsk. Wait a while.

Okay, I'm sure the experts will be taking your opinion under advisement.

How about something that actually explains the basics of the universe of man instead?

Impatience, impatience, tsk tsk tsk. Wait a while.
Keep giving money...?

I think your job is done here. You do not know where the strong nuclear force comes from. Or spin. Or gravity, or etc etc etc. We get it. But you want donations. I think religion is familiar to many of us here. Thanks for playing.

That would be science.

Yes, and because of donations like that in the past, you have a computer and an internet connection with which to complain about the evils of science. The irony is astounding.

Not according to you! You already admitted that science cannot tell us where even the most fundamental forces come from, or even what they are!

No, I haven't. All I've said is that they haven't managed it yet. Your far too impatient, you seem to think that if science can't deliver the answers immediately, than it can't.

Off topic.

Not really, if you don't want it brought up, don't rant about the evils of the science "religion".

Yes you have. Putting it off in an imaginary future does nothing to aid your sunken ship.

Your far too impatient, you seem to think that if science can't deliver the answers immediately, than it can't.

Trillions of dollars later...and thousands and thousands of scientists later, and you still come up empty! Don't do a special pleading for time and money with that record.

Not really, if you don't want it brought up, don't rant about the evils of the science "religion".

Yes really. Either it relates to the topic or not. Be honest.

Yes you have.

No, I haven't. But please, continue to tell me what I think. Its almost as entertaining as the silly threads in General Theology in which people tell Roman Catholics that they worship Mary.

Putting it off in an imaginary future does nothing to aid your sunken ship.

Actually it does.

Trillions of dollars later...and thousands and thousands of scientists later, and you still come up empty! Don't do a special pleading for time and money with that record.

Have you been living under a rock? Besides giving you a computer with which you can complain about how worthless science is, its given you all of this:

immunizations - Google Scholar

Yes really. Either it relates to the topic or not. Be honest.

Your irrational hatred for knowledge would appear to be part of the topic, so long as you continue to exhibit it. If it upsets you, try being more neutral.

So, electromagnetism, and the weak and strong nuclear forces are the nature of matter. OK.

Yes? And what is your new theory?

So, gravity is space that gets bent out of shape? What is space then? Gravity that is not bent??

Well first of all space has some mass to it, the way I've looked at it, and mind you I'm no scientist, this is just giving a way that gravity could be part of matter and not seperate.

I see it as sort of like the universe is a liquid that can condense into a harder material, unless the ammount is big enough to warp the entire shape of the liquid's outershell, only a small local area is effected by the condensing.

Anyone know what causes gravity? Exactly?
God does.

Gravity works on us in just the right measure.

Just a tad weaker, and we wouldn't be able to breathe.

Just a tad stronger, and we wouldn't be able to breathe.

That's called the Anthropic Principle, and only God can tweak the universe to our specs.

Except that it is evolution that has tweaked us to just the right specs. Most of the universe, almost all of it, except only some small fraction of the surface of a dust mote in an unimaginable immensity, would kill us dead in seconds.

And that is the anthropic principle.

So, are you suggesting that Christians do not believe that God set up present laws?
Of course there are Christians who believe this, but that’s because they are credulous. They are ready or willing to believe, especially on slight or uncertain evidence and particularly if they find the beliefs comforting, but that doesn’t make the beliefs true. No amount of belief can make something a fact and in this case, as with most Christian religious beliefs, they are simply not true. If you think these beliefs are true then demonstrate that to us. Explain to us what sound evidence and sound reasoning you used to reach the conclusion that your God created gravity.

Or are you suggesting that you do not know, but just refuse to accept God anywhere in any part of any explanation for any reason?
There is no sound reason to believe there was any god involved. If you disagree then explain to us what sound evidence and sound reasoning supports your conclusion.

As far as I know, gravitational force is a result of the earth's molten outer core revolving around the solid magnetic inner core. Interestingly, scientists found that the rate of revolution of the molten outer core has been slowing down for the last 160 years. Without divine intervention, the earth will die and cease to support any form of life at some point.

Anyone know what causes gravity? Exactly? How about the strong or weak nuclear forces? How about atomic spin? Where do the forces in our universe, or part of it, come from? How did they get there, according to science? Why must they be as they are?

For Christians, the answer is obvious. God created it, and set it up that way. Intelligently designed, and set in motion.

Science knows somewhat about how physical laws work, but not what they are!

This is one reason we may not assume our laws will be here till the universe dies from them. Or that they were here at creation.

Gravitons R.I.P.

So, laws here in our physical world, and environs are set up for here and now. Not forever.
