In 5 years time I will be 22 years old. By 19 I would have finished school doing electrical engineering.

For the next 3 years I would at least see myself in the military whether full-time or part-time, most likely the RAF.

And hopefully grown a quarter of a centimetre or two :]

Only God knows.....

BUT a girl can dream! SOOOOOO...

5 years from now...
- I hope I am healthier than I am now. I'm working on the part that I can, the rest is in God's hands.
- I hope that I am settled and married.
- I hope that I can finally write that dang book!
- I hope I have a good steady flow of "artsy" work or something....

Beyond that I have no idea.

You know, I'm with you there. In fact, I am just now getting serious about writing my first book series. I hope in those five years, though, I will be healthier and much closer to God.

Just think, you'll be 5 years older, and I'll be 5 years older. And yet somehow our ages will become closer to one another.

Yeah I think I know what you mean
It's like if a 15 year old dates a 20 year old it's like :O
but if a 22 year old dates a 27 year old it's like meh

you sound a lot like me
although teaching isn't my area of expertise I would love to teach English in Japan through the Jet Programme. Have you heard of it?
anyway, yeah ... I used to have the white picket fence dream too lol

I haven't heard of that exact program, no. But from a quick google search it looks pretty cool. I have had a few friends who have went across the pond to teach and really have enjoyed themselves. You're young, take advantage of the opportunities like that. And make sure to report back so we can all live vicariously through you :)

in 5 years, I'd be 40 years old!!

Might need a fake identity if I still hasn't aged by then. I'm beginning to encounter problems proving my identity!

I would have never guessed that based on your avatar. I feel your pain. I look really young.

It's actually good for the most part especially with my relatively transient lifestyle.

Must be the highly diverse genes we have in our family. Asian, African(aboriginal), and European.

I totally forgot about my novel. Kept getting told that I had a gift for writing, so I wrote an article for a magazine and it was published and then it won an award. So I decided to write a three-book series based upon a fictional character. Murder/crime/mystery type of genre since that is the easiest to sell.

Spent some time developing a character, created a writer's journal, did some research on self-publishing and then sat down and wrote the first chapter in about two hours.

Had some writer friends read it and received rave reviews. That was two years ago and haven't touched it since.

If you haven't ever tried it, maybe you should look into doing NaNoWriMo in November. It's a writing challenge where the goal is to write 50,000 words during the month, and while it's more about quantity than quality, it can work as a way of getting back into the writing habit.

One of the things I like about NaNoWriMo is that it gives you an opportunity to get to know other writers, and if you live in a region that's big enough that can result in meeting in person. I'm part of a local group of writers that has stayed in contact after NaNoWriMo and we do meet up throughout the year to write together, and it's also led to us publishing an anthology of short stories (although I didn't contribute to that as I didn't get my act together in time ).

I've tried the Nanowrimo a few years. The results were interesting. I have mixed feelings about it.
I prefer quality over quantity but some of what I wrote I feel could be used as reference to the main book I've been writing/creating for 15 years with a friend. The quality of my latest attempt was okay I think. I let my friend read it and at least some of it made her laugh. But I don't think I would ever publish it.
