Hello @garee,

With respect, the mystery concerning the Church which is the Body of Christ was hid in God, from when the world began. It is not the subject of the Old Testament prophets, the gospels, the Acts, the early epistles of Paul, the general epistles, or the book of Revelation. To say otherwise would be to deny the testimony of Ephesians 3:9 and Colossians 1:26. It was made known to the Apostle Paul, and administered by him in his epistles written from imprisonment (Ephesians 3:6-9), namely, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon.

The mystery of Christ however, was the subject of the Old Testament Scriptures (Romans 1:2), but required the revelation of the Holy Scriptures to make them known, as shown in Ephesians 3:4:-

'Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ
Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men,
as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; ... '
Also 'The Bride of the Lamb' and 'the Church which is His (Christ's) Body', are two separate companies with different hopes and spheres of blessing.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Thanks for the reply and the same to you with all due respect.

Not a salvation issue but more of how can we hear what the Spirit says to the churches, sects or denominations .

The gospel was first made known to the apostle Abel, the first recorded martyr.

The Bride of the Lamb' and 'the Church which is His (Christ's) Body', are are one new creature with the same hope that comes from hearing of Christ which dwells in them working in them to both will and empower one to believe the gospel of blessing.

If any man like Cain has not the Spirit of Christ then neither do they belong to Christ.

Hi to all and some believe that the BODY OF CHRIST began :

#1 In Genesis

#2 It began in Acts 2 ?

#3 It began in Acts 9 ?

# 4 It began in Acts 13 ?

#5 It began in Acts 28 ?

What say you and provide a verse saying WHERE , HOW , and with WHO ?

The body of Christ began when the Church began.
The Church began when Abraham believed (Gal 3:29) and it was credited to him as righteousnes (Ge 15:6).

Christ died for all past, present and future believers in him (the Church), who was the Promise of Ge 3:15, and to whom all the promises were made (Gal 3:16) and in whom they are all fulfilled (2Co 1:20).

Hello Clare73,

Thank you for your response to this topic.

How wonderful it is to know that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is also the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our Father also 'in Him'. We have been 'In Him' (Christ) since before the foundation of the world, for He in His foreknowledge knew us, the members of His Body, before we came into existence. We were part of God's plan and purpose, in His Beloved Son.

Praise God!

*
Yet Ephesians 3:9, and Colossians 1:26, makes it clear that the knowledge of this company called' the church which is His Body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all' (Ephesians 1:21-23), was 'hid in God', and not the subject of the Old Testament prophets, the gospels, the book of Acts, the general epistles, or of Paul's earlier epistles: for not until Paul was imprisoned in Rome was it made known. It was made known to Paul exclusively, as it's Steward, and it is he alone who made it known in the epistles written following it's revelation. Namely in, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus and Philemon, but largely in the first three.

* If God says something is 'hid' within Himself, then we should acknowledge it, rejoice in it, and seek to understand it, and the reasons why it was hidden, don't you think? Not argue against it, Yes?

Paul said:-
... 'Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you,
and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh
for his body's sake, which is the church: whereof I am made a minister,
according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you,
to fulfil the word of God;
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations,
but now is made manifest to His saints:
To whom God would make known
what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom;
that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to His working,
which worketh in me mightily.'

(Coossiansl 1:24-29)

Praise His Holy Name!

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

The church or bride of Christ began when Abel heard the voice of God and believed as it worked in Abel to both will and empower him to bring the right sacrifice. The first recorded martyr.

Abraham the father of all nations was set aside for a different purpose to be used in ceremonies as shadows of Jesus to come the sufferings beforehand . .

Abel is the first mentioned as God having favor or grace on. He will continue to add until the last day.

If any man has not the born again Spirit of Christ than neither do they belong to Christ as his eternal chaste virgin bride the church.

No mention of God having favor on Adam. He could of but Adam is not used to represent the first born of God , born from above. Which is actually the second to represent the Son of man, Jesus and new spirit life .Adam (red earth or clay )is used to represent death

The faith that comes from hearing God works in us to give us His unseen understanding . In that way the faith of Christ that works in the believer to both will and empower us to work with Christ's Grace as unmerited mercy on his behalf and not on own behalf.

It (grace) is the reward of his invisible work working with the father. His faith cannot be separated from the work of giving us his understanding and power to perform it.

It was the faith of Christ that worked by grace in Abel just as it works in us today . We should work with him not hardening our own hearts as those who murmur like Jonas who wanted to die. Pray we might perform the work with pleasure like the Son of Man, Jesus.

Philipian2:13-14 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings

Heb 9:22 says that without the SHEDDING of BLOOD is NO FORGIVENESS !!

Hi thanks for the reply.

Adam is used to represent mankind falling from the faith that comes from hearing unseen God .The glory of God departed and the dying flesh was shown as flesh . They knew they were naked of the previous glory they had before they walked by sight .They tried to cover that which was exposed when the glory left.

Abel is used to represent those who have been given the faith of Christ that comes from a labor of His love or work of his faith . The reward of His work is called favor or grace.

1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

The Bible does not say he had favor on Adam.

Genesis 3:15 is describing the church or bride of Christ using Eve to represent the new creature.(neither male nor female, nor Jew or Gentile) And how the spiritual seed of Christ provides born again new incorruptible life in the new heavens and earth. The gospel presented in the Old Testament.

Hi and if Adam did NOT have favor with Christ , why in Gen 3:21 did CHRIST kill and animal and spill blood and than COVER Adam and Eve which is a picture of the SACIFICE ( WORKS ) OF ATONEMENT !!

Thanks, Chris and garee,

The mystery here (Col 1:24-29) is "Christ in you (Gentile Colossians), the hope of glory."

Eph 3:4-6 - ". . .the mystery made known to me by revelation. . .the mystery of Christ which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Jesus Christ." See Ro 4:11, 16; Gal 3:28-29.

The mystery here is the inclusion of Gentiles in the Church, rather than the existence of the Church itself.

And to be hidden, must it not first exist?
God's eternal and existing plan--to sum up all things in Christ (Eph 1:9), though temporarily
hidden (a mystery), is a plan God is actively working out and revealing stage by stage, in
the incarnation (1Ti 3:16),
then the death of Christ (1Co 2:1, 7),
inclusion of Jews and Gentiles in the church (Eph 3:3-6; Col 1:24-29),
a remnant of both Jews and Gentiles, after a period of disobedience by both (Ro 3:9, 11:32), being by his mercy included in his kingdom (Ro 11:25), and
the change that will take place at the resurrection (1Co 15:51).
This is the eternal and hidden (mystery) plan now revealed.

Heb 12:18-24 contrasts the two covenants, the Old and the New, and locates "the spirits of righteous men made perfect," such as Abel (Heb 11:4), Noah (Heb 11:7), Abraham (Ro 4:3), etc., in the church.

Though hidden, the church (called-out assembly) existed before the NT (Ac 7:38).
And Adam, having taught Abel about sacrifice, would have been in it.

P.S. to Chris and garee:

Actually, the Word of God written reminds the Christian Hebrews that in coming into the New Covenant and gospel church they have come into a heavenly society, including thousands upon thousands of angels who are joined to the gospel church (Heb 12:22-24), whom they will eventually be like (Lk 20:36) and equal with.

So that would put the church beginning with the Word, the Son of God's creation of the angels
(Col 1:16-20).

So what was the HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE , what does that mean ??
The promises were spoken to Abraham and to one person, Christ (Gal 3:16).
All those in Christ through belief in the Promise (Messiah) inherit the promises.
Was that Promise to ISRAEL ?
All those who believed in the Promise (the Messiah) received the inheritance of everlasting land in the heavenly city (Heb 11:3-16).
Or was it to thge BODY OF CHRIST ??
All those who believe in the Promise (the Messiah), including Israel, are in the New Covenant gospel church, which is the body of Christ (Gal 3:28-29).

The church (ekklesia=assembly) was in the OT (Ac 7:38), as well as in the NT.

dan p
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Gal 3:28)

It means that unity in Christ transcends ethnic, social and sexual distinctions. All are on the same footing.

"For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord over all and richly blesses all who call on him. (Ro 10:12)

"For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slave or free--we were all given the one Spirit to drink." (1Co 12:13)

To Israel, there were only two groups of people in the whole world--Jews and Gentiles (non-Jews).
Gal 3:28 means that the whole world is on the same footing. All unbelievers--past, present and future---are damned, and all believers in Jesus (the Promise)--past, present and future--are saved in Christ from damnation.

Col 3:11 - "Here (in Christ) there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all."

They are the same.

Christ transcends all barriers and unifies people from all cultures, races and nations. These distinctions are no longer significant. Christ alone matters. All those who believe in Christ (the Promise) are his one body, the church, and are God's chosen people (Col 2:12).

Since you do not address what I present, I assume you are in agreement with it.

Hi and I said I would reply on Friday , which is Nov 20 !

Yes they are similar !!

In Gal 3:28 says :

#1 , The Greek word there are 2 , THERE IS / ENI is a verb in the PRESENT TNESE and in the INDICATIVE MOOD , this MOOD , means it is a FACT , which means that Paul is talking about the Dispensation of Grace .

#2 The next 2 Greek words are in the PRESENT TENSE and the 4th verb is ARE / ESTE

#3 , And the Paul mentions that we ARE / ESTE , in CHRIST which means OSAS !

#4 It also means that there are NO MALES OR FEMALES in the BODY OF CHRIST !

#5 This also means that the 12 APOSTLES are not in the BODY of CHRIST !!

#6 In Col 3:11 you should notice that that Col 3:11 begins by saying , Where there can not be GREEK and JEW , WHY ? I believe it means that switches from the JEWISH to ONLY GENTILES !

#7 And uses the words CIRCUMSION and UNCIRCUMCISION !

#8 And Paul uses the term THE ALL THINGS / TA PANTA which means SPECIFIC THINGS and here it means the BODY OF CHRIST !
