  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That is about as close to double talk as your going to get.
Double talk? I was trying to compress the meaning. But sure, I could explain it further.

If you take air (whatever air you want) and analyze it, you'll notice there is no 'air molecule'. The air is a mix of several gases, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide etc.
You'll never find something that you can say "That molecule, that's an air molecule.".
Why I wrote 'most often' is that there are extreme cases where the gases are present in other states, ionic or atomic. If I'm not mistaken, that can occur when lightning strikes for example. (I don't know if extreme cases are necessary but I think the atoms and ions are a tad too unstable, someone who's studied chemistry more than high school might tell you more)

I hope you've understood my point and seen that it wasn't double talk (also, English is my second language, so I hope something hasn't gone lost in the translation).

Whatever terminology you want to use is not really the issue. The question is do we breath the same air as the dino did. But the word air is to general so that is why I made reference to the molecules in the air. Whatever those molecules happen to be. There are 17,300,000 google results for a search on air molecules. But you are not happy because my grammer is not good enough for you high tech people.

So if you want to nit pick that is fine. But I would like an answer for the original question about breathing the same air as the dinos breathed.
The grammar doesn't matter, as long as it doesn't make the message impossible to understand.
It was the term 'air molecule' I was reacting to.

If the question is 'do we breathe the same air as the 'dinoes' did?', then there is two answers.
Depending on what you mean with 'the same' the answer is either 'Yes, most likely' (if the same is referring to the entire atmosphere at once, also I'm taking into account the possibility that the atmosphere somehow has been magically replaced or created, or any possibility that might cause it to drastically not align with how we perceive reality) or the one presented further down.

Steps to follow to answer the question:

Estimate the volume of air a person breathes in liters per second.
Estimate the number of Liters of air a dino must have breathed in his life.
Assume that dinos always breathed fresh air with every breath, he did not intake any of the air he breathed out.
Estimate the total weight of the earth’s atmosphere in grams.
Estimate the total number of molecules in the earth’s atmosphere.
What fraction of these molecules are the same as those which dinos inhaled.
If this is the same fraction of molecules in the air you breathe in, how many molecules of dino’s air are in your breath?
To estimate the amount of molecules 'dinoes' have breathed before I did is something that requires quite the amount of math. I say that by inspection, it's probable.
It takes into account the total number of molecules, concentration, wind, storage (ocean, trees etc), amount of dinosaurs, average volume breathed by dinosaurs, amount breathed by me and a whole lot of other variables (those listed are just taken from the top of my head).

It's a whole lot of work for a single, not so interesting, question.

Edit: Added "the possibility".
Edit 2: Added "or created, or any possibility that might cause it to drastically not align with how we perceive reality"

Someone is knocking on your door? If you do not know how to identify parody, satire and sarcasm then you really should not be in discussions like this. Perhaps this is all to subtle for you.
Ah such a pity you failed to comprehend the parody, satire, and sarcasm intended in my post. Perhaps you are not familiar with the saying regarding the deaf man's door. The deaf man's door is your door, not mine.:doh::doh:

There are air bubbles in the Greenland Ice Core samples. We know what the atmosphere was like. We do not have to guess at it.
Ah! Sorry! I meant the possibility!

Thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

Just like I did the last 18 years.
So the fact that your belief of a rapture that would have occured, didn't, doesn't make you stop for a moment and rethink things? (This based on the theoretical model that it didn't occur)

No.

I'm a dispensationalist, and I believe God works on a timetable -- His.

What about the people who say that "This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished." The life expectancy in Israel is 82 years, so 1948 + 82 equals 2030. "he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect". Mat 24

List of countries by life expectancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jesus said that, talking to the people around him. What evidence is there that he was referring to the generation that would come to exist in 1900 years time?

Also, that life expectancy of 82 is for modern Israel - what was it like in 1948?

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2 Peter 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

So you've made the prediction (since you believe it) that the rapture comes in the next 18 years, but even if that prediction is shown wrong, you don't rethink whether you might be unable to deshipher his timetable correctly or not?

No ... I ... did ... not.

If I'm going to predict the Rapture, I will predict it coming tonight.
