As a matter of fact, I did Google it ... to see why he was calling it a reptile, when 'lizard' is in the name.

You would think it would be referred primarily as a lizard, and secondarily as a reptile; but science is confusing, isn't it?

That's why we still have 'flying squirrels' ... because science is too careless and doesn't really care about updating their nomenclature, since it would probably be tantamount to admitting they made a mistake.

They they wonder why accidents happen.
We still use the phrase "Sunrise and sunset" Do you honestly mean to say that the sun orbits the earth? After all this phrase precedes science!

Mzungu ... no offense, my friend ... but you really need to pick up your ability to defend my points because, in all honesty, I'm finding your red herrings quite frustrating.

I'll try my excellent point one more time ... then I'm through.

Why was it primarily called a 'reptile', when in fact, it is primarily a lizard, and secondarily a reptile?

You still do not seem to grasp the concept of what a vantage point is. Do you miss all of Einstein's teaching also? Because he was very explisit that all observations are based on your observation point.

Carrying over traditional names into modern science can cause confusion, but so too can renaming entire categories of animals. In the case of dinosaur they elected to keep the traditional name even though it was not accurate. The most noticeable difference between lizards and dinosaurs is the upright posture in dinosaurs compared to the splayed posture of lizards.

A direct analogy is not a red herring. Dinosaurs were called "Terrible Lizards" simply because people at the time did not know better. Science discovered that dinosaurs were not lizards but the name stuck just like the phrases sunrise and sunset stuck even though we discovered that the solar system is NOT geocentric. Some nomenclature has remained through the ages simply because they were commonly used and accepted by most societies.

Elementary mechanics my dear creationist friend, elementary!
Edisons 10,000 attempts to make a light bulb was basic mechanics. So just because you can create a hypothesis does not establish it as true without putting it to the test.

Its just a Name. I really don't know why you get so hung up on names.

That's why we still have 'flying squirrels' ... because science is too careless and doesn't really care about updating their nomenclature, since it would probably be tantamount to admitting they made a mistake.
"Flying squirrel" is a common name, not a scientific one. So is "Flying fish," and "starfish."

They they wonder why accidents happen.
"Go at throttle up!"
"Oh no.... dinosaurs aren't lizards"
"Obviously a major malfunction... We have no downlink."

...dinosaurs had.... a backup brain in their hips
what? dinosaurs had brains in their hips? how do you know? how does anybody know? because there were brain holders? it looked like a brain could fit in there? or did we discover dinosaur brains in dinosaur hips? the scientists know what they are talking about? we have to trust them because it is a fact that dinosaurs had brains in their hips? and how big were their brains? do we know? do we base the size off the size of the space between the bones or skull? how do we know for sure? did we see the actual brains? did we make actual observation? are we making guesses? is it a fact that dinosaurs even had brains to begin with? are we making assumptions? are we confident in what we say? so dinosaurs had brains in their hips because we were told by perfect scientists that they had brains in their hips? and google confirms this? and whatever that google says is fact? if google says dinosaurs are lizards then dinosaurs are lizards? if google says dinosaurs are reptiles then dinosaurs would be reptiles? wait, aren't lizards reptiles anyways? is a lizard not a reptile? is a reptile not a lizard? wait, i thought dinosaurs were birds? are birds lizards? or are birds reptiles? do lizards, birds, or reptiles have brains in their hips too? if dinosaurs are birds and/or lizards and/or reptiles, and if any of those guys have brains in their hips, then we could bet that the dinosaurs had brains in their hips too. or did the dinosaurs also have hips in their brains too?

Would it be correct to say then, that from my vantage point, when I get in my car, the destination comes towards me?

ask a dog that question. does a dog know that the car moves to the destination? or does the destination come to us? reminds me of star trek the next generation episodes were wesley was learning about the universe and they figured how to bend the universe to that the destination went to them instead resorting to traveling warp speeds for years to travel to the other side of the universe........... and in the matrix the little boy told neo to not bend the spoon but to bend your mind.... or something like that...... and you know that you drive on parkways and park in driveways

AV, your last few posts about whether dinosaurs were lizards or reptiles is one of the reasons I suspect you are an atheist trying to make creationists look silly. Bearing in mind you have on many occasions said that dinosaurs are birds.
I think I made a good point ... but what I consider 'good points,' and what you guys consider 'good points' are two different things.

A good point is one that communicates an accurate piece of information about a topic in such a way as to create a new flow of discussion about that topic.

You're claims were nowhere near accurate. You rely (as do many creationists, it seems) on hopelessly outdated information.

You mean like ... when someone answers a question, and that brings up another, and another, and another, and another?

Not really! I speak with dinosaurs every day and we watch the Flintstones (non fiction). I live in Dinotopia where we speak with dinosaurs and have tea together! Here is the proof: ( I am the one riding the Triceratops)

Wow, I didn't realize that you guy's ride around on dinosaurs in Greece. I always knew you guys were a bit unique.;)

I fear you missed the word ACCURATE in there, AV...
Accurate according to whose standards?

And if it's so accurate, why did you clarify by saying, "In such a way as to..."?
