In today's world, there's "big sins" and "little sins". Homosexuality, fornication, murder, etc. are the "big ones". These are the sins that we focus on most, the ones that make us cover our mouths and look away in horror.
But what about the other sins that no one talks about? Little white lies, acting out in anger, hating someone (which is the same as murder!), disobeying our parents, pride, laziness...all these things are listed in the Bible as wrong. Yet we don't talk about them. Even adultery can get glossed over!
So when is it a sin? Why do we decide that some sins are more important than others and when does a sin become important? Why do we excuse hatred but stamp out homosexuality?
The reason most Christians are so against homosexuality, but willing to look the other way on most other sins, is because if you are not same-sex attracted, homosexuality is the ONE sin you know you will never commit! Most of the other 'sins' in the bible are sins that most Chriistians already have, probably still do, or may commit in the future, or they have Christian friends that have or are committing these other sins, so most Christians are not prepared to come down hard on those ones.
Most Christians know almost by heart the laws in leviticus that appear to be against homosexuality, but they would be hard pressed to quote any of the other 600 odd laws. And if you point out any of the other laws in leviticus, such as the sin of wearing a shirt with mixed fibre, then most Christians will be quick to point out that the laws in leviticus 'no longer apply to Christians'!
But if you are same-sex attracted, THEN the laws against homosexuality in Leviticus definitely DO still apply to you!
