Miss Spaulding + desert = puddle of melted, dead Miss Spaulding.

Deserts are stunningly beautiful, but...I don't mix well with heat. My fair skin and the sun have always been at odds with each other...I can't seem to end the their feud. :234:

All the more reason for you to move north. Like, Michigan specifically ^_^

I'm more along the lines of Alaska. You know...a really awesome cabin with a giant snowy mountain for my view, an Eskimo for a neighbor, a grisly bear in the yard.

I have a cabin on 120 acres in Northern Michigan. No mountains, but plenty of hills and four-wheeler trails ;)

Really? That's really cool! I would love to have ton property like that. You can take the four wheeler, I'll go on horseback. :p

From the link above:
Camel spiders top speed - 10 mph. Which is very fast for a such a small creature..

Try out running THAT little bugger. :ahah:

Yep! It's my favorite place in the whole world! My favorite part is really hard to get to, but you get to this really steep hill and once you get to the top, there's a river on the other side. It's so lovely!

My understanding is that camel spiders don't really chase people or camels - they chase shade, which both people and camels supply while walking through a relatively featureless terrain. Also they're not really spiders. And if you think about it, they look more like a cross between a spider and a huge tick than a "classic" spider.

Yup. They're part of the arachnid family, but aren't actually arachnids. They're in a branch of their own called 'solifugae'. [1]

And in terms of behaviour, yes, they do chase shade (which would indeed spur the myth of chasing people/camels). Solifugid actually means 'escaping from the sun'. [2]
