Was 78 today! Beautiful out, got leaves raked in the back yard. Got to wear short sleeves. ;) Still 68 at 7:30 PM. Alas, tomorrow the high is supposed to be only 45. But we're supposed to get some much needed rain.
Oh, my goodness, dear friend. One day about a week ago it was supposed to be 90 in Miami where 2 of my brothers live. I'd die!

We hit 88 yesterday. But the record for the day was 90 so I guess we lucked out. :) I tried to rake leaves out of an iris bed but the wind worked against me. Finally had to get the sucking thing (leaf eater?) out. Took a while but I got most of them into bags for the trash.

Currently 61, supposed to be 74 today. Then 59, 45, 53 Thursday through Saturday and then back into the 70s all of next week. We did get a tenth of an inch of rain overnight.

Can't believe it's almost March.

It's weird that in the US today, the current winter storm is bringing both record highs and record lows.

My house seems to be on the dividing line, so we're having normal February weather - overcast with flurries, nothing sticking.

Thunderstorms just popped up out of nowhere. Guess that's why they call them pop-up storms. ;) Looks like we're just getting skimmed by one edge, nothing heavy as yet but some nice rumbling thunder. Typical March weather but we can really use the rain. Had plans to visit the home & garden store to look at sale shrubs to replace some that died. If the rain passes maybe I can still go.

We're supposed to get a wintry mix on Friday.
The wintry mix was yucky!

Next week Friday and Sat. are supposed to be a wintry mix; then on the following day (Sunday) snow showers. :snowflake:

I did go, thank you! But I came home without shrubs. $40 for a shrub?? I'll dig some natives up out behind the neighbor's back fence and plant them.

Oh, I was going to ask what you bought. I have likes and dislikes. I also made several wrong choices when I first began planting. But now I'm old and barely buy anything for the yard after getting rid of some of my worst mistakes. I paid my son-in-law a lot of money to remove a snow fountain cherry tree and he dug part of it up, and quit. I also showed him where I didn't want him to dig and I guess he forgot. Oops!

It gets so hot here in the summer that a lot of plants just aren't suited. Natives are best. I looked up the snow fountain cherry tree, how pretty and luscious looking! Husband and I go to my mom's house frequently to saw dead limbs and plants. My husband likes doing it. Last summer didn't do us any favors, it was so dry, lots of dead stuff.

Got almost an inch of rain overnight. Cold and dreary today. Currently 53 with a heavy sky. The weather people can't seem to get tomorrow's weather right but try to say what it will be like a week from now!

That weeping cherry was admired by my husband. He normally wasn't the least bit interested in gardening, but every spring he admired that tree. Well, the weeping branches touched the ground. They weren't exactly pliable, but I had to get to the trunk of the tree to remove all the ground level ones with a saw because they were longer than the circumference of the bed around the tree. The older I got the more of a chore it seemed to be! Live and learn. LOL.

My MIL wanted some roses, but FIL kept running the mower into or over them. She gave up and eventually had a silver painted tractor tire filled with dirt so she could plant petunias in it. She was a few years younger than my grandmother so her gardening woes were before my time. I married her youngest son.

We only occasionally (rarely) have summer droughts. But having native plants is an excellent idea.

It's been below freezing most of the time since Thanksgiving where I am at. There are heaps of snow along the sidewalks hip high. I am going to need a boat when that finally melts.

Overcast this morning, though the sun peeks out now and again. Temperature was 39 when I got up at about 6:00 AM, it's up to 46 now. Supposed to be 60 today, then anywhere from 70 to 82 through next Sunday. Good weather to work in the yard. :)

We had a lot of rain this winter- our old average maybe. Waiting to warm up. Then too hot and fire season. Praying for rain in September. We have a couple buck brush shrubs, a couple small crape myrtles, a couple oleander (deer proof), and a huge red bud ready to bloom, a bunch of oaks and wild trees. I heard you talk in’.
