Oh yuck! Terry Goodkind is probably one of the worst fantasy authors ever printed and published! Even if you ignored his barely concealed anti-communist diatribe, his miserable plotting and the doubtful ethics of the main character (Richard justifies just about any atrocity in the newest installment of the "series" in endless "philosophical" discussions), there's still the uneasy feeling that Mr. Goodkind has some serious problems with his sexuality, seeing that his female characters are either leather-clad dominas or constantly (in danger of) being raped by utterly perverted villains.
