I was angry last night and this morning over something.

On Gab, someone had posted a picture that said "All my posts are going to be in cursive so the young fact-checkers can't read them".

First of all, you're posting that on Gab, not Facebook. Gab does not have fact checkers. Second of all, how do you know the ages of fact checkers? Third, why are you making fun of how the younger generations can't read and write in cursive? Not teaching stuff in school is a sign of the country falling apart. Are these older generations proud of that?

All cursive is is connected letters. I bet most who weren’t taught it can at least read it. I wonder if the crowd who learned it in school who think it's super-hard never really learned it either........

& what are they teaching instead of cursive, I wonder. I remember a significant time was spent on it.

The fault lies with the parent and school. If something isn't covered that doesn't prevent them from addressing it at home or finding someone to assist. Penmanship books are easy to find and there's many resources on Pinterest that can be downloaded and printed.

I remember also a large group of the class pretended they couldn't read print to get out of it too, so yes, it is to dumb people down & make things 'easier' on the teachers. (Even by middle school a chunk still pretended they couldn't read)

I'm a strong supporter for homeschooling if you have the time and discipline to do it. They learn significantly more and the day is shorter. Many curriculums exist and I like the Classical Christian approach with modifications.

Just got home from rhe ER with my mom. She was having heart palpitations/irregular heartbeat. Doesn't seem to be anything too concerning, they told her to follow up with her primary care doc or a cardiologist. Her Medicare just kicked in the first of this month, so that's actually something she can do now.
