That one woman at work asked me out on a date for tonight. I don't know what she expected my answer to be. She looked pretty sad afterwards and avoided me for the rest of the day. She went home early too, but I cannot confirm if that was because of me or not.

I do find this disappointing. I've been ignoring her the best I can these past few weeks and I thought she'd take a hint. I do know that she was married once.. I want to buy that man a beer and perhaps we could swap war stories. Not sure how she hooked a man on that level in the first place.

She has no one to blame but herself. Nothing practical was ever going to be accomplished and all she did was manage to ruin both of our days. I've been developed a mild headache that has been lingering around all day because of it.

The only credit I can give her is this time she didn't shout this out loud for other people to hear, and kept herself reasonably quiet. Although she invited her friend to come along with her when she asked. Her friend is pretty cool though, she seemed kind of sad for her too.. but she seemed to understand me.

It sounds like you did all you could to avoid this. She comes across as mighty head strong. Bless her heart.

It kinda sounds like she's harassing you. Is she? I've been harassed at work before. It got so bad they ended up firing him. It was awful. I hope she takes a hint and leaves you alone so it doesn't escalate.

I'm sorry to hear about that. If you don't mind me asking what did he do that wound up getting him fired?

I'd say she has harassed me in the past.. this past month she's mellowed out. Which makes today all the more disappointing. I don't think she's done much that will warrant a firing.

I had a wonderful scalp massage earlier and slept like a babe. They’re very relaxing. I found the massager on Amazon.

It doesn’t look comfortable at first glance. But when you apply it to your scalp the gentle pressure releases tension. The benefits would surprise you. And you can do it yourself.

Am I allowed so say this doesn't surprise me at all and that's exactly how I pictured you? LOL Except the part about having been a dairy herdsman. I never would have guessed that. But there do seem to be a lot of people working in agriculture on these forums.

You ARE allowed to say it, but it doesn't really matter now because you've already said it. (I wonder what gave it away though...)

Yeah, I was a herdsman for years. I've got stories that you'd never believe. I DID see just about everything. I'm a very hard man to shock now.

For the first time in a year.. I'm worried my father won't be around for much longer.

I'm sorry, man. I take it his health problems from before are returning? :(

He wouldn't take no for an answer and wouldn't leave me alone. For 6 months, almost daily. He did various disturbing things I don't want to get into. The last straw that prompted the firing was that he wrote me a letter (what a moron!) basically demanding I reciprocate and threatening me with "consequences" if I didn't. He had a temper and I was afraid of him, so I took the letter to my boss. I was lucky though, because he never touched me. Thank God.

Women get away with a lot more in the workplace when it comes to inappropriate behaviour. I hope your boss takes you seriously if it gets unbearable for you.

Nothing really gave it away, apart from the discussion about craft beer (screams hipster to me). Suppose I just have a good intuition.

I know quite a few people in the dairy industry. They have stories that are probably similar to yours, like the guy who lost a finger to a PTO shaft. Some people lose a lot more than that (their minds?). Agriculture can be crazy sometimes and people really have no idea because it's so hidden from the public eye.

I realize I've been a poor witness the past few years. Been good at going to church & Sunday School this year (2021), but there's not really any service opportunities yet due to the dumb lockdowns. I'd like to ask someone sometime when they think there'll be opportunities.

Right now I'm not sure. He seems to have a cold which is not so worrying in itself.. the worry part came after he seemed to be improving from the cold but suddenly getting much worse.

Oh, human injuries are tame compared to what I saw happen with the cows. I was walloped in the face so often it became routine. (It was a bit embarrassing on the weekend though, when you'd be out with friends in London - and then all of a sudden, your nose would spontaneously flood.)

Nothing would prepare me for the cold snap of 2018 - I think THAT was the biggest challenge I ever faced. And I can honestly say that was the first time I've EVER seen a high tensile hosepipe snap like a chicken wing.

The milk just became ice cream on the way through to the bulk tank and ANY water that you tried to extract from a tap, froze immediately upon contact with the air. It was ridiculous. I could write a book on the experience, honestly.

And my outhouse toilet froze solid.

And the fan heater in my cabin decided to stop working right on the coldest night.

I saw operations and autopsies performed in front of me, I've calved cows from about every angle imaginable, I saw a cow literally cough up her insides, and 2020 was not my first lockdown - 2015 was when we tested positive for TB. But I will ALWAYS say, that the cold spell was the most extreme thing I've ever experienced.

Southerners will tell you the same thing about this past week. NEVER has Texas experienced anything like these winter storms. I heard about people from other states making fun of us, but I guess we sort of had it coming because of how much we talk about how great Texas is.

I can believe it - the shock of the cold I mean.

And interestingly enough, I actually went to Dallas about two or three weeks after this episode, to escape the UK cold snap. It was quite funny scrolling through my Insta feed while I was out there to see that they had been hit with a second wave. I'd booked that block of annual leave intelligently looking back.

Texas was beautiful at that time of year anyway. What made it even better was that for the first few days, I'd stayed in a few states on the way through, which had ALSO been hit with the same problem as the UK. But Dallas was just impervious. I'll never forget that first walk out, it was heaven on earth. The smell of the pollen, the warmth, the freshness of the air. Perfect.

It's another place I'd like to come back to actually.

DFW is a nice place, as are many of the other big cities. However, there’s a few small towns that are worth visiting as well. If you find yourself driving from DFW to Austin, San Antonio, etc., the back way is pretty nice, as you drive through a bunch of small towns. Marble Falls is an exception, but it’s beautiful.

I’m still getting acclimated to my homemaking program. One of the assignments is pretty neat. We have to choose a book for three areas: well-being, domestic life, and spirit. They’ll become our go-to resources for the year.

In keeping with my earlier theme of completing my to be done items, I thought of 3 titles I wanted to read but never got around to.

We have multiple options to choose from for each focus. Well-being includes diet, fitness, mindfulness, etc. Domestic life includes relationships, organization, homemaking, etc. And spirit is self-explanatory.

I chose a classic on relationships. I have the eBook and looked at other titles by the author. Some were updated after her death. The biblical references were removed and the verbiage was modernized.

The eBook is no longer sold and the originals are hard to find or severely overpriced. I managed to find the others and purchased a hard copy of the one I have. It appears the updates will be the only options going forward. All of her books were Christ-centered. It was a sobering reminder of the time we live in.

In light of this I’ve chosen a Christian title on homemaking. I haven’t settled on anything spiritually as of yet.
