After the 2 1/2 day fast.....I I had to eat just yogurt. Anything else was too rich.
Like I said, you seem to have experience, and know what to do. For some reason I didn't realize I had to ease back into it. Of course years later I know and have learned from that experience.

I just had a little bit of burrito & was fine.

Yes, it definitely takes some advanced planning. Like this one I probably started my planning 4 months ago as far as figuring out if I could do it again and what days. That's why I'm starting mine on a Saturday.

Since rejoining gym a month ago (had stopped when the "2 week lockdowns" started), I've been trying to focus on lower body a lot more then what I was. I don't understand, I feel like it's harder to make gains w/ legs (& who sees my abs ever :p) , but I'm at least trying more then what I was before the lockdowns started.

FYI I tended not to focus on legs b/c I was primarily trying to strengthen the parts of my body that get achy sitting all day at work.

Hello there,

do you work with a trainer or do you just do moves on your own? Also are you a dumbbell guy or machines?

I actually love strength training. Never thought I’d love weights so much. I can give you some ideas to target your legs specifically. My own humble opinion, most guys I have worked with individually and in classes tend to focus more on upper body where the gains and muscle definition happen much quicker. Legs take time because those are the largest muscle groups in the body and targeting the smaller groups within those muscle groups takes patience but also understanding of complex movements.

My preference is using dumbbells and even a stand alone barbell. It causes more more resistance on the muscle and causes you to have to engage other muscle groups for support and balance. More bang for your buck!

Also, when targeting muscles you want to really make sure your protein levels are good, water intake is high, and you are getting a solid stretch in. Stretching before is great but after your workout is key. Tight muscle doesn’t equal strong muscle.

Sorry for going on, I’m really passionate about this stuff!

Abs are nice. :D

I don’t like a lot of bulk on men. Long and lean with muscle definition suits my tastes. I like balance most of all. A bulging chest and arms paired with scrawny legs just looks strange. Do what’s natural and you’ll be fine.



What areas get sore? My friend is very knowledgeable about fitness. She’s a coach. I’ll tag her. Hey @cara-mia, can you chime in?



Men appear to be less aware of the reasons they’re struggling. Most women know. But they may deny it.

The most common detractors are:

Appearance
Neediness/Clinginess/Smothering
Secrecy/Overly cautious
Dishonesty
Demanding/Too many expectations
Bad attitude/Negative
Neglect/Never has time
Moving too fast/slow

If you read the relational complaints on the site you’ll see these often. I’m not including abuse or cheating for obvious reasons.

Women don’t typically tell men why they turn them down. Most have done so before and had a bad experience. They’ll keep it simple to avoid conflict.

Power went out this morning as we reached almost unprecedented cold temperatures, in the single digits. We were without heat for over 11 hours and I developed a sinus headache.... That was fun.

I’ve felt sluggish all day. I need to make immunity soup tomorrow. My body is beginning to tire earlier. If I got to bed at 7 I’ll be up before 12. Staying awake is giving me a second wind.

We’re registering now. Break is coming soon. I may take 3 classes. Then I can take 3 in the summer and continue at that pace. I’ll finish the main portion by next spring. I’m weaving the extras in.

The temperature change didn’t help. I took some B-12 yesterday and will resume my vitamins. I’ve neglected both. My workload and projects may be contributors. I’m going to making chicken curry soup for lunch. My body is fighting off a bug. It feels like a cold.

Things are moving fast. We go year round. I’m accustomed to that pace from before. But there’s supplemental courses and our instructors teach other classes. I’ll be able to continue my studies next year if needed.

We discussed independent pattern designers last week. She encouraged us to consider it and shared the forecast for the industry. It matches the feedback I’ve seen from users.

There’s a related discipline I haven’t mentioned. Fabric and surface design are viable paths. The first is obvious. They design fabric sold in the marketplace. A lot of fabric is propriety. The public can’t purchase it. That reduces theft (fakes).

Producing for the public can be lucrative. Especially if your designs are catchy or released seasonally. Most are. Tilda is a great example.

Surface design is more expansive. It includes functional items like clothing and nonfunctional things like digital patterns (non sewing). They’re frequently used by graphic artists. It’s pretty neat to see the roads one can take.

The frame is really cool. The purple portion is fabric. It really pops! I think the lavender paint is splendid. Perfect for an office.

... Boy, now that I'm home after taking three hours to get back there from work in this snow (slipped into a ditch and had to be towed out, but with Claire still functioning, thank God), it just dawned on me:

I would technically have made more money just not having gone into work last night at all.:confused:
