  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Reps are what I miss from the old software. Nothing else matters.
I miss that the most too. I prefered sending reps to posting...

First off, the people who run this thing don't even allow believers to exercise the gifts they've been given by God to edify other Christians here. What am I talking about? No prophetic utterances shared within the community. Why? Is it because of misuse? Well, you don't judge something by the abuse of it. You discern according to truth. I'm not saying there's no encouragement going on here on this Forum. But it's no where near what it could be. Sure, it would take money to revamp this place in areas where much could be improved. But it's not impossible. Start a subscription service for users that want additional features. And leave the rest for people who just want to post to the board.

I'd start by welcoming the community already here and those outside the website to share ideas on what and how to make this place better. Creating these 'think tanks' would go a long way to invite and reward creativity. I would shift the overall point of the website to those who are actively pursuing and engaging their faith by the gifts God has outlined in His Word. This would mean that no longer would people have as many opportunities to just mere talk about things in discussion (which Paul said amounts to nothing but the wrangling of words). I'd look at seeing about how I could make every aspect of the Christian walk come to life with the technologies that are available. And for those who still just want to come for chat and post on topics, I would offer more than just a reply box, emoticons, and feedback criteria.

I wonder if this could actually be true? :mmh:

I guess my heart is quite fond of the "pairbond" theme from Bioshock 2. The sad violins just move me in particular. ^_^

So does that mean that listening to Rush could result in an irregular heartbeat because of all the unusual time signatures?
I like ska... so my heart is.... offbeat.

I wonder if listening to some nice slow music could actually do something for my anxiety, then. I should find some.
I enjoy listening to smooth jazz sometimes when I'm working on something, I think that might help. Slow-paced classical music might also be a good idea. =)

Just kidding, lol. Actually, sometimes it helps to listen to music that reflects my mood, so I can understand that.

I’ve tried to listen to smooth jazz many times... but I just don’t like it and it bothers me. But I do like other kinds of jazz so I can’t say I don’t like jazz. Just elevator music annoys me. They used to use it a lot in old tv shows too I think. :D

I often listen to movie soundtracks. Song of the Sea had been my mood soundtrack for a few years. ^_^ It’s good background music.

I'll admit, I only use it for background noise. :p Sometimes I also put on Jazz with vocals or soft rock; I guess some kind of slow-paced light noise helps me to concentrate.

I like that soundtrack, it's very soothing. :) Occasionally, I also find myself listening to Skillet or the Batman soundtrack while I'm scripting, lol:

Hello Multi.
I was on a thread where this member posted a utube vid that had music from a movie and I was blown away by the beauty of the music in it.

Mountains were giants (cool pics!)

Not "most" of them like this says, I'd wager...
If you want to skip the bible texts and whatever other intro text there is, go to 3&1/2 minutes in:

Love the music!!! Beautiful. and great vid!!

If you're a fan of stringed instruments, I'd recommend Vitamin String Quartet and Taylor Davis. They make covers to popular songs and they are awesome!

Taylor Davis! She's talented!

This takes the cake as far as string covers for me

I love 2Cellos!

Theres also Piano Guys, some of their stuff is really cool. But I usually prefer movie soundtracks over string covers, something about how they try to use a string for the vocals, and almost always use like the same tin-sounding key for the vocal part.

Time by Hans Zimmer (from Inception) is one of my all-time faves. And Arrival to Earth by Jablonsky (from Transformers) is also just absolutely stellar
