The nurses insulted me, gave me unfair punishments while still allowing the other patients to bully me without consequence (one even making physical threats against me in front of the nurses as they sat in front of the computer), forced an apology letter out of me after I responded to one of the bullies and then told me they couldn't force apology letters out of anyone after I asked for one too, spoke to me in an angry tone when it came to testing, gave me false diagnosis's when the nurses were in no position to give them out, took advantage of my mother's desperation by putting me on pill after pill which a specialist later told me I shouldn't have been on, and one nurse even lied about me making a death threat to her and I got punished for it.

I'm autistic, therefore I'm not an actual person to them. This kind of treatment for the disabled is a lot more common than you think.
Well, I wouldn't know. There are certainly a lot of bad apples in every field. It sucks for the truly compassionate ones who work really hard to take care of the worst part of our lives.

That's the way it is in England under socialized medicine. The sick, the old, and the disabled get pushed away from the table because there's not enough money and budgets keep getting cut.

The United Kingdom is the latest to tighten its belt. The National Health Service (NHS) -- the centralized public agency that runs Britain's government healthcare system -- is being forced to shave $31 billion from its budget by 2015.

These cuts are leading to a precipitous drop in the quality of care patients receive. The NHS has been living well beyond its means for quite awhile. And now brutal government-enforced cost controls are exacting a heavy human toll.

The Ugly Realities Of Socialized Medicine Are Not Going Away

OMM: Learning how to grow a small garden and planning one out. Thank God both of my parents grew up on farms!!

This is awesome. The house/property I live on was originally my grandparent's. My grandfather had the greenest thumb I've ever known and he grew almost everything you can think of on the 12 acres. Farming was in his blood. Unfortunately, that skill wasn't passed down to my father or any of us kids and each garden I've tried growing has failed. I'm assuming you mean a small vegetable garden you're thinking about? If so, and if you master the dilemma of bugs destroying the garden, let me know the secret. Lol. I'm not even kidding. The bug issue was the number #1 reason I was never successful. But, it is Florida and our climate is very tropical, so the bugs are a force to be reckoned with most of the time. Hopefully it won't be nearly as bad for you. :blueheart:

We should chat about this sometime! I've been wanting to do this at my house!

Ermagersh. CF Gardening Club in our future, y'all.

Yes, I am thinking a small vegetable garden. I already have it planned out, except for the bug issue but I am about to do some research on that. I am not as far south as Florida but bugs can still be a real pest. So far the only thing I have successfully grown in the past was tomatoes. I had to "fight" off the birds and tarpons (aka box turtles) to harvest them.

Feel free to make a thread. ^_^ I'll chime in where I can. I am by no means a gardening guru and this will be the first real, even though small, garden I am attempting.

Looks like I didn't break my foot after all. No fractures, according the the x-rays.

:sohappy:

Oooh, what’s your French press like? Is it fast to make coffee that way? Does it taste awesome?

I usually just drink coffee from a drip coffee maker. :asd:

I have a Laroma 8 cup Cafe Classic. It isn't exactly fast, but the coffee is awesome. Highly recommended.

Strong and with just cream. ;)

Nice. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever had coffee that's too strong.

I'm trying to cut down on the sugar. Sometimes, I go without, only to end up having a sugary drink later.

Sorry, but tacos don't grow that well here in the north. We have to import them.

Back in 2011 or so, I started a thread in CF Singles called "What's on your mind?" It ran for several years, through 103 iterations, before some kind of drama lead to it being closed. While it was down for mod action, another user created a similarly named thread.

Now that the threads can grow much longer, and it doesn't make sense to have numbers after the name, I think it's time to bring back the original.

So, what's on your mind?

It looks like I'm a little late on this.... but welcome back Miles.
