  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Thank you Reese. *hugs*

Rest assured you couldn't be a simp if you tried. This post deserved two ratings. :)

I tend to regard the 'friendly' rating as a double like. The Winner rating is the same - but I usually reserve those for times when someone has really hit it with a political point.

*Sigh of relief* It's actually my worst nightmare to become a simp. If I ever do, just take a pillow and smoother me won't you? I couldn't handle the pity.

I don't believe you have the characteristics to do so. I've encountered men whose behavior towards the opposite sex made them self-destructive. They veered beyond the bounds of self-regard. The madness was sickening to behold.

To see that depth of groveling and emasculation offends my senses. No emotion should drive you to the point where you've forgotten yourself. You weren't made to crawl. Get off your knees.

There's nothing wrong with desiring someone. When your want makes you effeminate and destroys your worth; you need to check yourself.

You're incapable of doing the same. Your identity doesn't hinge on relationship. You have a lot going for yourself. She adds to the whole. She isn't your orbit. :)

My cousin Anna - who I used to fondly tease by calling her "Lemon" (due to some weird excitable child character from an old anime from my teens) when we were younger - is in labor right now with twins. Please pray for her to make it through safely and with as little pain as humanly possible.

Looks like Anna made it just fine. The two newborns look absolutely beautiful, and kind of alien-like at the same time ... just like Anna! (Like I said, I find ways to tease younger cousins. ^_^ ) But no, really, everything's good. And I am glad for that.

I was thinking about what you said there, Miss Bella.

You've always seemed to think graciously highly of me, but I believe that acting beyond the bounds of self-regard (as you put it so well) when it comes to how i treat any lady is among the evils that I as an aspiring knight fear committing the most.

It is up to the Spirit ultimately of course, but Anna is a good woman and I am sure she will nudge them in the right direction. :)

Honestly when this pandemic has settled down and my employer is no longer so restrictive on matters of traveling, I need to find the time off to take a trip to Tennessee and see how Anna is doing along with her now three children, along with the rest of my family there (many members of both my mother's and my father's sides of the family live there). It won't be an easy road ahead for Anna, of course, but, it can be a joyful one, I am sure. :)

What we're discussing isn't good treatment. Its idolatry. Their desire becomes obsession and turns them into supplicants craving a goddess or madmen undertaking destructive acts to possess her. I've encountered both.

I have no interest in being worshiped. I don't want a man to debase himself to gain my attention. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your self-respect to attract someone's notice. If they can't embrace you as-is and recognize your qualities as a man and child of God, they aren't worth knowing.

No woman with a heart for the Lord would ever do that to a man. Or want to see him in that position. Its sadistic. Some of the men who behave that way are masochistic. They enjoy the mistreatment.

It's like we always say, NEVER approach from a position of scarcity. If you're that determined to cling on to someone it immediately tells the other person that YOU place an extremely low value on yourself.

You should always have up to five members of the opposite sex on the boil at once (in my opinion.) This goes for men AND women - and it is NOT to play the field. It's to get a feel for what you like, what you don't like, what you need, and - well, let's be honest, it's a just a good idea to have a selection. Because one person will treat you slightly differently than the other, so it's just sensible in my mind to keep your options wide open.

You can't KNOW what you want until you've seen it from multiple angles. And I'm just being real here. I know that on my side, if a woman pulls back, I just let them go and assume that another guy came into the picture. I don't follow them up or pressure them, I just let them go. Whatever, there's other girls out there.

Oddly enough, they tend to reach out when I withdraw myself like that. Sometimes it's months later but they do eventually resurface. It's just how the game IS now. I don't let it bother me, it is what it is.

Since we're having confession...

I don't enjoy attention from men I'm not interested in. If he approaches me and desires consideration, he'll have an answer in 24 hours. I don't beat around the bush or dance. If I'm aware we're not compatible I see little reason to wait. I don't want to waste anyone's time or give false hope.

My swiftness has unsettled some. But I don't need to deliberate. I know the qualities I desire in a companion and the things I won't bend on.

You should always have up to five members of the opposite sex on the boil at once (in my opinion.)

When I find a viable prospect I shut things down. I don't need multiple options. If it doesn't work I'll meet someone else. I don't juggle men.

Augh... I don't want to call a woman 'older' but you ARE what comes with being that little bit more mature. I find women over a certain age easier to get along with. That's NOT a set in stone rule I live by, but generally, that's what I find. (Age actually doesn't equal maturity. It's a mistake to confuse the two.)

Actually, I've been pretty quiet lately. There aren't any girls blowing my phone up at the moment - what do we think of that CF? "Boooo!"

LOL, nah, I'm enjoying the lurk to be honest. I have a couple of women in distant orbit, but they're BIG maybes. I wouldn't even back a tuppence on them.

I began doing that in my thirties. I had age requirements too. If you want to see someone go berserk, say under 40.

I enjoy your company. That's why we get along. :)

That's unfortunate. You need a crush. *grins* Want some help? :p

To be honest, if your careers advice is anything to go by I'd happily trust you to arrange a marriage lol. Your insight is downright SPOOKY sometimes.

Thank you Reese. I'm curious to see where things go. :)

As for the ladies, my picker is darned good. The last one I settled was 21. There are certain qualities I look for. No headcases, wallet drainers, drama queens, etc.

And I look at the caliber of men she's dated. That gives you a lot of insight. She has to be sensible. I don't do train wrecks or fairy tales. She needs grounding, a healthy self-image, and a positive regard for the opposite sex.

I like a pleasing demeanor with nice deportment. Someone he can take home without holding his breath. The bones must be good. Permanency is the goal.

I was researching antique oil paints the other day, and one colour in particular really piqued my interest: "Mummy Brown" - yep, it's exactly what it says on the tube. They used to extract the pigment from mummy flesh to achieve the hue.

The colour is kind of similar to Burnt Sienna? Perhaps with a little more of an iodine hue to it, but absolutely fascinating all the same. I'm going to try and recreate it. (Obviously a mummy friendly version.)

Ultimately, I'm going to be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at my career. I'm NOT relying on luck.

I think our pint will be very enlightening. You sound like the Wizard of Oz's fairy godmother.

I'd expect nothing less. Your effort warranted the response you were given. I'm less specific in untested waters.

Wow, that's a first. *lol* We'll have a blast.

More paint research. Found a 30ml tube of Cobalt Violet for £51...

It's a good thing I had already swallowed my water or else it would have been sprayed all over my keyboard. I mean £51 for 30ml of paint? That's just scandalous money.

They even had the nerve to say "RRP:£63"
