The symptoms of feverish nausea have returned AGAIN from that infection last week. And my medication for it was only meant to last until last Thursday. Please pray for me. If the antibiotics couldn't squash this problem completely, Then something else might be wrong entirely and it will be much harder to find what it is exactly.
Well Im no doctor but I think its all summed up by saying kefir......... of course there are those far more knowledgeable than I but it is the most amazing thing on earth for my stomach.... thats all I know. Yogurt sucked and made no difference kefir though.....Sounds like SIBO. If so, you'll need to drastically change your diet from now on (there is a lot you can find online to help with SIBO diet guidelines). Antibiotics help the flare ups and are certainly necessary during these times, but they are definitely not a long-term solution to the problem, and will, in time, do more damage than the SIBO itself.
My sister has been suffering from SIBO for the past 14 months and it pretty much turned her life (in regards to food) upside down. She too has been through her share of antibiotics as well. In short, SIBO is brought on by an excessive overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. So this can be brought on over time, or, like in my sister's case, can be brought on very suddenly if you have suffered a bad case of acute gastroenteritis (AKA 'stomach bug/virus').
The actual 'healing' process is a long and difficult one, unfortunately, although this could depend on how bad your case is (assuming you have SIBO). Special medication is involved, but changing your diet to SIBO friendly foods will not only speed up the healing process, but it will keep the flare ups at bay also. Food is the number #1 thing about SIBO that will either make you or break you, so sticking to a SIBO friendly diet is critical. My sister has found this out the hard way a few times.
Off the top of my head I know that some huge negative triggers for a SIBO flare up are asparagus, onions, mushrooms, and garlic. But, sadly, there's a lot more. :-/
*Also, buy good quality digestive enzymes. It will really help in breaking down and properly digesting food you eat. Just another way to help ward off the flare ups. Everyone should take digestive enzymes actually (I take them). Works wonders.
Sorry for all the info, but IF it is SIBO, this is very important stuff to know. I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you get better soon.

While we are on the subject of stomachs and digestion.....I cant pass up the chance to post this:

I can't stand yogurt so to me it makes me wanna gag too. I do like that it has the consistency of milk (as you know a little thicker but closer to milk than yogurts goop) easier to blend into a shake.Kefir is great stuff. I wouldn't drink itinerary excess though like some people. Lol, I know some people who drink it like freakin' water. But besides that, it's excellent for your digestive health.
Personally, I hate the stuff. I can down about 6 oz. or so, but even that makes me want to gag. So I've given up on it and turned to eating a few ounces of spicy kimchi each day. It's SO good.
At most Id do 16oz of kefir a day, but I have at least one cup a day..... (Except last night, I meant to but the hours slipped away too fast)
I just wish my grocery store carried the Greek Kefir...... more protein doesnt hurt.
Yes, but Im not quite comfortable enough to just make my own. Its one of those "too easy there has to be more to it. Surely I messed it up" kinda things.I just recently read and tried Kefir myself. Have you ever considered getting the kefir grains and making your own?
I really like your new profile pic and the pic in your signature! They are really cool!My buddy Steve got me a Keurig for Christmas. I've been drinking coffee a lot more. It's actually really nice, at all times during the day, to grab some coffee and get busy with work.
^You should try making kombucha then. You'd probably like it as well and no milk involved.
Ooooh, do you drink kombucha??? I drank that stuff for a while, but eventually stopped.
Mmm, sauerkrautNo. I hate it. I try to like fermented drinks to boost my digestive health, but it never works out for me. Too gross. I prefer fermented foods better, like sauerkraut and kimchi.
