How’s he doing? What happened?

~Bella

More organ damage.

I'll have to spend more time with him. Might sound strange, but my family is pretty independent and not very close. Not in a mean spirited way, but we tend to like to keep to ourselves. But you know, I'd like to have some bonding time before he dies.

Applying to be a security officer at Heathrow was literally the scariest thing I've done since my driving test - I absolutely HATE being tested, buuut, I did myself proud. My report looked good, and I agree with all of it - they had my personality down perfectly. So I have no complaints at all over the application process.

Edit, sorry* @MehGuy encourage his optimism. It's literally the best thing you can do.

I've tried too. Honestly though, I think part of him (probably a large part) wants to die. He suffers through some serious depression.

What did the doctor say? Did this happen out of the blue? Yes, more time is best. :)

~Bella

He was due for a check up and they found out his disease was flaring back.. the doctor sounded surprised. I wasn't there mind you, just information my mother told me.

I’m sorry. Hopefully this isn’t serious. It could be a reaction of some sort.

~Bella

It's not a reaction.. just a rare disease. Only thing that can really help him is steroids.

Is he taking steroids? How does the medicine affect him?

~Bella

Yeah. The steroids help reduce the inflammation. His whole body is pretty much inflamed. Inflammation that causes permanent damage. Believe even his brain could deteriorate. Although haven't heard any concern about that.

That’s a lot to deal with. Especially if this wasn’t a condition he’s had all his life. But it sounds like he’s handling it one day at a time.

You can be an additional source of hope and positive words. I know that’s not your norm. He sees the whole picture. When he’s ready to talk about the hard stuff you’ll be there. Until he does, fill him up with good vibes. They come in handy during moments of despair.

~Bella

He developed it about six months ago. Can happen during anytime in life. There isn't much known about his disease though. Only thing that gave me hope is watching YouTube videos of people with his disease and them living decades after the fact. Although their lives seem pretty messed up.

I try to be positive. I guess it's hard explaining my father if you never met him. I don't think my words will mean much, and he's probably secretly happy he's dying. Although he loves us and has said he doesn't want to go for our sake.
