You recently had a birthday? Happy belated birthday! :)

And @Citanul Happy Belated Birthday :D You don't look a day over..um... your last birthday! :p

Thanks to both of you. I'm not really big on celebrations, so even though it was a "milestone" birthday I didn't make a big deal out of, and wouldn't have even mentioned it here if it wasn't for her thinking I was a little bit younger.

I must work 7 days in a row starting Saturday night, so after work today as sort of an unwind I went to El Dorado to see the Pet Sematary remake with my homeboy Lantis. I was never a fan of Stephen King movies (except for Misery), actually, especially his writing, but this remake was quite chilling at just the right level for me at most parts, without going to uncomfortable or disturbing lengths, with pleasant twists at times when I thought the film was going to just imitate the parallel moment in the original without ruining the story. And the little actress playing the daughter Ellie, while unknown to me, was a delight to watch, apart from being a very cute little girl with seeming natural stage presence. For those who know John Lithgow the actor, for a man likely pushing 80 right now in real life he also did a great job playing the character of Judd the elderly neighbor. And admittedly, on a personal level as a conditionalist Christian I thought the depressing subject of life and death was handled fairly intelligently and in a manner that provoked thought, especially with the mother and father characters sharing differing views and sentiments/fears on that very subject, which also tie well into the motivations that drive the main conflict of the plot.

All in all, I was quite pleased with the theatre experience tonight, which I certainly do not do often. And I give the movie a solid B, if my opinion might mean anything to those who might be considering checking it out.

Please pray for my strength to make it through the next week at work without tiring out as well. During my ten years spent in this type of occupational setting, it has occurred to me by now that the more one works, the more fatigued he or she naturally gets, especially when he has to make it 12 hours at a time, and thus the more unsafe the conditions can become. There is definitive danger to beginning to lose focus when working with various chemicals.

That perpetual Billy Madison feeling every time I'm there.
