Today is my best friend in elementary school’s birthday. He was very compassionate to me. We started to get pulled in different directions in middle school & were in different directions by high school. I wonder how he’s doing or what he’s doing. I’ve never been able to find him on social media. He just fell off the map. I have suspicions he moved East & got married & is working for a big international corporation.

God bless him! Sometimes all I can do is pray for those I've lost touch with. I often wonder about them, too.

I say this of course because I am partial to the lady protagonist in the second installment. Even in the present day she is absolutely lovely.

She has a big joy for the Lord & what he says.

That is what I always liked about Miss VanillaLion. So many Christians- mostly men, but also some women unfortunately, too, I have seen - seem to think that being a believer in Jesus Christ and servant/child of God the Father these days is all about being some kind of tough guy, or at least first and foremost, above being merciful and innocent, and I completely disagree with that. None of us can be perfect in bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit of course, but it's almost like the "tough guy" types have no regard for them. They want our faith to be a hard and oppressive force, seeing everyone "outside the camp" as a personal enemy to be destroyed, rather than set the better example before a world of folk who do not (yet!) believe.

.... But VanillaLion? She had such a joy and innocence about her in the way she spoke of her faith and the Lord. And she wasn't afraid to reveal when she felt her faith was weak and doubting. She was never prideful or arrogant, putting on airs that she was a better, more moral person than everyone else, with a stronger more ironclad faith than them, or being beloved of God to the exclusion of other people. She could admit when she felt weak, and did not judge all the while. And it seemed to me, most of all, that she correctly trusted Jesus as her Good Shepherd who would guide and keep her in His love, even when she was down and felt doubtful, rather than as a harsh King who would turn on her and hate her as an enemy should she ever fall far enough away.

She is an admirable woman to me, and I can only assume to you as well.

A great temptation strikes me right now, and it really shouldn't be so overpowering. I cannot be out of its physical vicinity for another six hours or so, either. Please pray for the temptation to cease, that the Lord will ease this burden for me.
