• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I love helping people, and I am so grateful that people trust and believe in me again; however, I still need help sometimes, too.

Guilty confession: I can't stand helping people. I have to force myself to do it. I do try and stretch my boundaries of loving people, but it does not come naturally. I live in an apartment complex and I lead a Bible study here in the community room. I've been having problems getting people to show up since I started. Of course, I never say people have to come. I always say it is entirely their prerogative if they want to come or not. Not forcing anyone. Struggles have mostly been people forgetting, moving out of the building, being drunk (or high), people in the Bible study not talking to each other due to conflicts completely outside of the Bible study, etc. But I still keep at it. I keep trying to resolve things. But it is not easy. I've been a listening ear many times regarding people's problems. And people have a lot of problems in this building as it is subsidized housing. I feel for these people. I really do. But it is stressful. I know what it is like to be a pastor at this stage. So I get why Pastors get burnt out.

So @GodJesusAndChocolate has me hooked on this one jigsaw puzzle site, and I see there are options for a four-piece puzzle. Just who in the heck would ever bother doing something like that?

I've been up since 2 AM...I hate not being able to sleep...worst feeling ever :(
I completely understand where you're coming from, I believe. Is it that your mind just won't seem to quiet down, or is it more that sleep just won't come?

Yeah right, I wish, and be told I am even more of a terrible person. No thanks, I'm good, lol.
But ARE you terrible person? If you know you aren't, don't let others' incorrect, unfair, twisted points of view make YOU hold your tongue and repress your thoughts and feelings, to your own detriment. Even if you can't speak freely to these certain people, speak it somewhere. Even if you just rant outside at the sky or in a diary or in prayer. Do let it out. :twohearts:

If you get no joy out of this, and it doesn't feel right for you, why force yourself? There's a difference between being called to do something, and having a gift, talent, or passion for it, but struggling at times, and feeling like you "can't stand" doing it. Do you honestly feel a soul-deep pull to keep doing this, or is this an obligation that you're forcing out of fear or guilt?

Sometimes it can be a real pain in the butt. My problem is stress and getting overwhelmed too quickly or easily because I have PTSD, so I am generally already kind of emotional at times. However, situations where it is just constant can definitely be more difficult for me mentally and emotionally. I try the best that I can for everyone, especially the people I genuinely care for and love.

I love that response! Thank you so much for caring! That is why I come on here to be honest because I know that there are people who are genuine, and even though I may think that it is horrible, someone else could be like, "Well, no, not really", and totally turn my mood around for the better.

It isn't all that bad. My point, which I could have been a lot clearer about, was that my flesh is not naturally the type to help people. But with the Spirit, God has really helped me. And some of the people in the Bible study are really blessed by it. They have told me time and time again that I am really helping them. Most of the problems are that these people have never seriously been in a church environment so they don't really even know the basics of Christianity and I am happy to do the Lord's work in that regard.

As someone with a serious mental health diagnosis myself, I can understand this. I just keep plugging away even though it can be stressful at times.
