HECK YEAH! Go Sauce!!! Congratulations! I just recently completed my years-in-the-making college degree, after giving up and feeling like it was just never going to be possible. It's such an awesome feeling!

Was rearranging my bookshelf the other day (taking unnaturally several hours in order to do so, for some reason), and rediscovered this. A book from my childhood. ^-^ Caught my eye because a coworker and I had been talking one time just a month or so ago where she mentioned books like this that she still remembered reading a lot as a kid, in particular Frog and Toad. ->

I have to wonder why you would still be in possession of that?

Even if I forget about it every now and then, this and four other books like it are the source of treasured memories from my 5 to 9 year-old childhood. Frog and Toad, Mouse Tales, Hooray for the Golly Sisters, and my personal favorite, Zack's Alligator. ^-^

I had some Frog and Toad books when I was a kid, although I couldn't tell you which ones as I no longer have any of them.

I don't think I ever realized that there were more Frog and Toad books than just the one I always had ... unless, perhaps I did possess more as a small child but lost them so early on in life that I lost all memory of them.

There’s a community out there that thinks Frog & Toad are gay, & that may indeed have been the author’s intent, but whatever happened to really really really good bonds nonsexual & nonromantic between men????

Those books are excellent regardless.

Yessss! Excited for fall!
Football season!

Some people just don't get rid of things.

I have a singles conference in a few weeks and I'm already trying to decide what to wear... I have zero chill ^_^ I tend to like dresses, but I'm wondering if that makes me less approachable for guys?
Would you be able to explain what you mean by 'less approachable.' Just curious.

& what might a singles conference be?

I’ve been told before by people once they get to know me that they initially thought I was either stuck up, high maintenance, or just scary because I always wear dresses and makeup. In reality I just love dresses and looking feminine and I have my routine down to about a 30 minute get ready time. Also dresses are way more flattering and I think you have to have a much cuter figure to get away with pants!

My church really embraces singles and has a whole ministry geared towards us. The conference is kind of the launch for singles small groups for the year and a way for us to meet each other. We worship together, have some breakout sessions, and have a dessert social.

No, dresses are good. It shows femininity & confidence in it, something men don't have & can't have.
Yes, in some ways it does make you less approachable b/c it's not the standard, yes. (that's what I had thought you had meant). But if you embrace it & yourself, you will be more approachable! (a suggestion: go lighter on the makeup when wearing a dress or you will appear materialist & worldly.)

Wow! Most churches would be terrified of that! At least branding it as 'Singles.'

Thank you for your perspective! And your suggestion seems sound, however I refuse to give up makeup because I’m frightening to behold without it ^_^ You’re right though, the right person would love me for me: dresses, makeup and all.

Yeah, it’s really refreshing the attitude my church has towards singles. I wish more churches felt that way. The traditional Christian life is so focused on marriage and family, so it seems only right that churches would be willing to help us find Godly partners to make that family with!

Some how I doubt that. :D

Although I must observe, that first-time reaction from these folk you know seems backwards to me. I would have imagined most would find you more approachable than the average lady with the way you dress, not less, and certainly not thinking you might have negative traits such as being stuck up.

@TheRealAriel
Now the high maintenance part, maaaaaybe I can see a little where they'd get that as a first-time impression. :D

(Just joking. ^-^ )

Probably fair, tbh :D what constitutes as high maintenance varies from person to person. I’m definitely the type of high maintenance that would want a partner who also attends to daily hygiene, picks up after himself, exercises, eats reasonably, etc. For some that would for sure be too much to ask!

I hide my emotions so well because there is no point in expressing them if I cannot change them; therefore, just smile and keep it moving.

I bought a new bed, and for the first time in my life I have an extra length one. I'm 1.88m (6'2"), and it's such a great feeling to be able to stretch out properly. I'm never going back to a standard length!

Before when I was an entrenched Atheist for 8ish years I used to be consumed by the nihilistic dread of death but since The Lord has saved me when I think about it now it's more of a tragedy than an impending threat of non-existence. I wonder how many little things akin to this have changed inwardly that I just don't notice? Like how many shifts of perspective that were plaguing me before has God transformed? and how many do I just take for granted? When I imagine the varying degrees in which this is the case for every person who has ever existed and exists right now, it really amplifies The Lord's grace and patience.

I think it's one of those things that when we die we will see just how full the transformation from death to life was and just how much we didn't understand while we're in our bodies that are influenced by sin.
