My favorite dessert for Christmas is cannoli.

I can only imagine homemade canolli is awesome. Gosh, there is so much good food out there. It's a wonderful thing about humans. We can take the most mundane thing, the need to eat, and turn into something amazing.

Agreed. Well prepared food is really one of the nice little pleasures in life. I think life can be really hard and difficult sometimes. It is nice to be able to enjoy a nice meal with friends or family. I think it is one of the simple things that we can almost take for granted.

Oh, and homemade cannoli is amazing:)

i don't think it's always so "black and white"
Now I'd hate to say it but the song "people are strange" comes to mind ("women seem wicked when you're unwanted")
I think it's more a matter of current issues within peoples lives,
it doesn't make it right but again I don't know anyone who at some point hadn't felt some kind of bias towards someone or even a whole group of people.
I for sure get where the tendency to want to hate a group of people comes from.. I think when we experience hardships and trauma it's really easy to try and protect yourself from getting hurt again by just hating anybody or anything like what you experienced. But like you said, that doesn't make it right and I think it's something we all really need to actively fight in our own hearts. Speaking to myself mostly, I know I can veer hard into man-hater territory at times and it's totally not fair so I work to quiet that voice within me.

If I may ask for everyone's prayers that things follow through with work as I am hoping they will sometime soon. I had expressed interest to a supervisor in switching permanently to the other lab section I am trained in, in order to conceivably get away from some low-key anxiety inducers such as the loud radio next door, and because I was just starting to feel burnt out in general after being in my current section for over four years now, ever since I first came to this job.

When I got to work yesterday evening I found that some changes are set to be made around the lab this year, such that many positions will be switched around, thus (at least possibly, assuming everything goes through as the manager is foreseeing) opening up a position on another crew entirely in the lab section I was hoping to go. I can see a lot of beneficial value and future headaches avoided in my coming to this particular spot. Should the Lord be willing to make it so.

My thanks to everyone who has prayed. Unfortunately as of now it looks like, at least according to the manager, Nel, I will not be getting this wish granted for another year. .... I mean, I know with the current circumstances it would take a few months, but an entire year sounds to me like he's just blowing smoke, and personally doesn't want me to move positions.

And if that's true -that he's claiming this will be at least a year before I have any opportunity to make the move, because he personally doesn't like my idea - knowing Nel for five years in total working at Albemarle ... it's solely because it wasn't his idea.

Ah, well, with the Lord's strength, I will somehow make it another year in my current position without going mental. ^-^

I decided to end my crush and be more patient. While I'm growing in confidence and feeling much better about myself, in reality, I'm afraid being turned down right now would have a negative impact on my growth. It's not that I can't handle rejection, but just trying to better guard my heart. If someone comes along and expresses interest, great! But otherwise, I will stay focused on my journey.

Remind me, this was someone at CF?

I've been listening to Spanish music & watching TV in Spanish too.
Today I went to the library for a few hours to read children's books in Spanish. I then watched The Jungle Book in Spanish.

I don't think I'll ever be able to speak it fluently, but I do good reading it, & am trying to get better at hearing it.

That is pretty good. I took some French and Italian classes years ago. It's very difficult to become fluent in another language (difficult for me, anyway). It sounds like you are making good progress though.

My dad's 90th birthday celebration. All siblings were there, which involved long drives for some of us. While we were there, he teleconferenced with his grandchildren and now great grandchildren. We had a big family dinner one day, went to a diner in our old hometown the next, and accompanied him on a couple of his long daily walks with our mom.

People who live in Europe here: are you billingual?

The UK and Ireland are the only countries where English is the primary language (although there are a handful of other regions where that's the case). So basically the posters from Europe who aren't bilingual will be British or Irish members who don't speak another language, or those who've moved from a monolingual country but haven't learnt the native language(s) of where they now live.

So I've been watching Univision. :)
