Most of you might not know who Justin Carmichael is (I imagine you might have heard of him since I remember you mentioning the Nostalgia Critic's work before, Wayholka, as Justin was a producer on his website Channel Awesome), and I didn't really know the guy, either, since I had scarcely followed his work as an Internet critic. I just thought he was funny showing up in one of the Nostalgia Critic's movies dressed up like Jareth the Goblin King. That's about all I knew about him.

But it still makes me sad to hear about this allegedly super nice guy's crimes behind the scenes, especially since doing so now reveals the likely reason Justin took his own life five years ago. ... Without going into detail, let us just say that his crimes are against impressionable young women. And that is a shame. You know me; I no longer believe in a hell like Dante's Inferno, nor do I believe that the Bible has sufficient proof that suicide automatically renders one judged as an unbeliever even if the victim was a believer in Christ during his lifetime - that suicide is completely unforgivable no matter what the circumstances, but I will say this: I can only hope that Justin Carmichael found forgiveness somehow, some way, from God and the people he has betrayed, because he really hurt some people with his selfishness and sexual deviancy. Some of the accounts I have heard of these incidents are just awful. It truly is like some sort of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde phenomenon.

I guess the reason I bring this up here in particular is that, while looking up the sudden news on this, I came across a video of one of the young girls Justin had in his social circle speaking before a conference of some sort. I do not remember if she had said she herself was one of his victims or not (God willing she wasn't), but the way she spoke of how she met him and how kind and encouraging he was to her concerning her creative work on the Internet, ... makes me realize how alike I am to Justin when it comes to my way of interacting the opposite sex, especially younger women. Not the part about the sexual crimes, of course, but just like me he seemed to be one of those kinds of guys who just always tried to be all around nice and empathetic to all the girls he met and had a fairly large social circle of them, many being significantly younger girls. Well, that just seems so much like me.

That's why I can only pray that I never allow a possible dark side to manifest itself in this as Justin's did. God save me from ever turning on any lady friend - older or younger - who ever places any measure of trust in me as their friend or companion, especially in the manner of using them as selfishly as Justin ended up doing. That's ... just one thing I can never do.

Lately, I've been hearing all sorts of scandals behind people we loved growing up. All the #MeToo accusations, Stan Lee's alleged elder abuse, The scandal around Nostalgia Critic, Mark Salling exposed as a pedophile, and numerous other things coming to light after years of obscurity.

It really goes to show that the people we tend to put on a pedestal are not as perfect as we make them out to be. They have their own dark sides we don't want to believe at first. We all have our dark sides we don't want anyone knowing. In Heaven everything will be revealed and I know we will be astounded by each other. This concept of God's judgement terrifies me as I have numerous skeletons in my closet.

Thankfully, in Jesus we are forgiven and after judgement, we will not see each other as terrible people but see just how much Jesus's sacrifice on the cross meant. It will bring glory to God by showing just how merciful He is with the sick and dark crap we have done in our lives, past and present.

All it takes is an act of humility to admit our faults and accept Jesus into our lives to avoid an eternity of shame and torment for our past actions and into an eternity of redemption and glory.

Perhaps that revelation will be our punishment, despite ultimately being forgiven and allowed to eat from the Tree of Life. For all of us, even the best of us who are admired by many and seem as close to perfect angels as any mere human can get.

"I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Isaiah 43:25

I think there will be shocks on the judgement day but we won't hold it against each other afterwards. It's like that best friend you had growing up who you loved dearly coming out as gay. It's shocking at first but you can still love him in a Christ-like manner.

I'm sure there's a better analogy but to me, I think it would be something like that.

I really have odd dreams. Last night I had one where my parents and I went to a teddy bear store but they had a bunch of clothes and animals and other stuff there too, and everything was ridiculously overpriced. We ended up only buying a piece of wood painted pink, and when we picked it up it broke in two. Then my mom and dad left and somehow I got left behind in the store, so I had to wait for them to come back. It was the middle of the night, and some other people were there too. There was a blue (real) bear there and we were afraid it was going to attack us, but instead it started eating cereal with us. Then my grandma on my dad's side (who doesn't drive anymore in real life) came to pick me up, and then my parents came.

There is a reason... why he was so nice and empathetic to those girls, and why he target younger girls... Its called grooming dude.

Its not about turning... you clearly don't understand "crimes" of abuse. And the term "using them" i think it was a lot more than using here, and he also did with the girls he didn't abuse either.


As a grown man i would look into why you think that women need men to be nice and empathetic.

I appreciate when Christians and ministers post pictures of events and things happening within the church and what not. It's exciting to see cool things taking place. But with platforms that are available today such as YouTube and video cameras on most peoples phones, it leaves a lot to explore and know than just single photographs. That's the impression I get when I look at a lot of things on Facebook. Boy howdy, things are going to change about that if I have anything to say about it.

Are you obligated, as a part of the wedding party, to participate in any of the planning process? Or like figuring out where to book a place for the whole wedding party to stay? Or should this be the groom's responsibility?

Ideally this would be the best man and maid of honor, but the whole group should be in communication to make sure things get done. Sometimes the lead person is dead beat and other members of the party need to act in that role.

Really I think being a part of the party means your friends trust you to take care of the small stuff for their big day so they can just enjoy the moment. That's how I've always treated the role of a bridesmaid in the weddings I've been in. However for my wedding nobody in either of our parties has offered to help with any thing so we're doing it on our own.
