I could never write a short story, unless I just take a chapter or two from a larger story I’m writing :tongueout:
For me, I always want to know what happened before the story started, and after it ended. So it has to be epic.
I’m the opposite. It’s difficult to write long stories and pretty easy to write short stories.
The longest I’ve gotten was when trying the nanowrimo, and I discovered that I just didnt enjoy it as much, because I do my best writing when inspired... and trying to get a word count took the enjoyment and inspiration away.
I would like to actually finish writing a book someday - but it’s probably not going to be very long.
That said - what I did write in nanowrimo is usable as a whole (even if it is scrapped) as it takes place in the past of the book (series) I’ve been creating over the years with my friend.

@Miss Spaulding Yeah indeed that is what I meant lol

@Saucy Easy for you to say :p

The short story is for my english porto folio to be graded. I did do a reflective piece but my english teacher suggested that I take one of the points and structure it into a short story while keeping the emotion there.

Plus me and words, i usually word vomit ha ha

so having it too sit and think about this and my word choice, and imagery, smilies etc

Praise the Lord I am able to do this course and access it free... - not make my post less whingy

I used to think this same way. I like to think of my stories/ideas as flashes in the pan because I don't like long, drawn out stories. As much as I love Stephen King, he does that WAY too much. I remember reading The Stand and he had 200 pages of people just walking. It added nothing to the story really, but I became bored with it and never finished.

But, the more I wrote, the easier it became to write longer stories.

I don't know. It must take a certain kind of talent to write that much on such a mundane task or situation. ^_^

The sickness I had Thursday was guessed to be a bacterial infection in my digestive system of some sort. The medication has certainly helped, but for some reason the symptoms of feverishness and some stomach pain have returned in the middle of the night. Just thankfully not near as bad as it was Thursday. Please pray for me, everyone, if you would. :)

Keeping up at Dr. Pepper every day right now would be quite the challenge with these symptoms. If I were still there. =P
Keeping up the prayers for you. Please feel better very soon!

Wow, some people must really get a lot of ideas to be able to write such long stories. I mean, sometimes I struggle and have to do a lot of thinking just to get ideas for six-page stories...so to be able to have the ideas for 200+ page stories is just amazing. o_O

I think The Stand was over 1,500 pages.

Personally, once I come up with a good character, I’m interested in following his or her development through life... because people can really change so much through experiences.
I have some ideas to follow a few different main characters through a series of books as their paths cross and their personalities develop... all the while fighting evil, of course ;)

I don’t want the weekends to end either! During the week, I’m looking at the calendar each day and I’m like... Okay... Come on, let’s hurry it up! Let’s get to the weekend now!

Getting up early is not fun. I used to have to get up at 6 AM for school, and I didn't like it. o_O

For me, writing a short story is easy...it's writing a long story that's difficult lol.

I used to have to wake up at 2-4am at my old job I worked about 10 years at, cat naps were life. Of course me being in my 20s and early 30s I wouldn't fall asleep until 11-12 so....

Im no doctor but have you looked into kefir? Its good bacteria that fights off the bad in the digestive system. Im not a doctor so I don't know if it would help or harm as timing can be critical... but may be something you want to look into and decide maybe even ask your doctor about?

It is amazing stuff. After trying yogurt for awhile and being, underwhelmed to say the least........ I didn't expect much from kefir but I noticed a difference before the first bottle was even gone (each bottle is 4 servings at one servings a day so for me it made a difference in under 4 days) I didnt have an infection but I do have a horrible digestive system (Not helped any by 30+ years of my carnivorous ways Im sure.)

Kefir is awesome!!! I drink it almost every day! Good recommendation

Actually shortly after I began drinking it, I heard a doctor recommend it to someone, saying how beneficial it is. :D

I drink it every night before bed. I hate the taste of yogurt so I also hate the taste of kefir...... but along with its digestive benefits it can help sleep its worth it. So with that and the melatonin in tart cherry juice every night, I fall asleep much easier and sleep deeper.

Huh! That’s interesting... I never knew it could help you sleep! I think I might drink some before bed and see what it does for me. I usually put it in a smoothie each morning for breakfast. Helps hide the weird taste when mixed with fruit :D

How much tart cherry juice do you drink? Does that help your digestion too? I’m gonna look that stuff up!
