Do you. There's nothing wrong with being creative in your own ways... you can still appreciate and be excited about something and write your own fanfiction without actually knowing much details of the series.Thank you guys. Yeah I don't really have tough skin.I mean, it doesn't bother me if people nicely give me advice, but when they just rudely criticize me...
I'm starting to think I should have known better than to publicly share a story I started when I didn't know much about the series. Of course other fans are going to be critical of that. This is the reason why I hesitated for 11 months and 21 episodes before posting the story in the first place.
This person didn't even read my story. They basically called me stupid for not doing my research first. Can I help it if I didn't know much about the series, didn't know there was a place I could research it, and was eager to begin?
Im sorry they were rude, just remember to take that pain to God......Thank you guys. Yeah I don't really have tough skin.I mean, it doesn't bother me if people nicely give me advice, but when they just rudely criticize me...

People on the internet can either be brutally honest or just plain nasty. Websites like Newgrounds had a huge problem with people leaving abusive reviews, some even telling flash artists to kill themselves if they didn't like their content. What's even more incredible is that Newgrounds' most famous and popular flash artist, Arin Hanson AKA Egoraptor left the website because as he described it, "They will follow your work just to wreck you."
Point is, these kind of nasty reviews happen to the best of artists on the internet. This is why when it comes to art, literature, and music thick skin is essential because you're always taking risks. Sometimes your risks pay off, sometimes they don't. Do not be discouraged because it's impossible to please everyone and not everyone is a sophisticated critic. Sometimes they can be downright cruel just to make themselves feel superior.
Thank you too. Those are good points to think about. I do feel a little better now.Im sorry they were rude, just remember to take that pain to God......
Just remember: John 15:18-25
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.
Some people simply enjoy stewing in anger and hate. Most don't even realize the anger/hate in them, so try not to let them steal your joy, it can be hard some times I know, but our struggles are not with flesh.Ephesians 6:12![]()
I just got a very rude review on my story, and now I feel like crying.
Do not be discouraged because it's impossible to please everyone and not everyone is a sophisticated critic.
Thank you, I'll try.I am sorry to hear that, Miss Multi. But please try not to let it get to you.
If it makes you feel any better, the person who criticized your writing so rudely probably couldn't do any better. I speak from personal experience.
I'm so sorry to hear you had a similar experience before.![]()
I will say that I'm feeling better now, though.I apologize for my complaining too, I'm just so sensitive, I guess.

Bah! If I leave Houston (which after Harvey is possible, waiting to see how everything settles as work is STILL recovering) I may head to central Texas. West of Austin North of San Antonio area Im thinkin. That’s why I’m thinking of Arizona![]()
Yeah that was pretty rude of him. I'm glad you were all able to take care of it all!No worries. For me it ended well, because it was a baseless criticism over a stream of the game I had written for. When I challenged him on that, he linked us to a playthrough of his own game created with RPGMaker, to prove that he had done better with his writing, and the very first line of dialogue I stumbled across at random was incredibly immature, third-grade-level stuff to say the least. Other examples here and there were not much better. So yeah, this guy of all people had no right to harp that my writing was poor.
And everyone else in the stream was either silent or agreed with me that the critic was full of it. Even the person in charge of the stream agreed and told the critic to knock it off. And the critic attempted a few more jabs at the game's other developer and myself in later streams, everyone present just ignored him instead of responding, and eventually he left altogether. ... Winner.![]()
Well thank you, glad to hear I'm not troublesome.Miss Multi, if that is the extent of "complaining" that you do ... then feel free to do all the complaining you want around here. Because that is hardly what I would call troublesome.![]()
Thank you, that's a good point. I've just got to do what makes me happy and remember that there are people who like the stories..Some people do nothing but criticize, because they are unhappy people and they can’t make anything good themselves. Try not to take it to heart. Keep doing what you’re doing, and just listen to the ones who offer helpful advice![]()

That's crazy! So if you were unlucky or if people just wanted to be mean, then you wouldn't even get anything posted? Very sad.SarahsKnight speaks the truth on that. Over on Newgrounds, your flash movies/games had to go through a process where 200 people had to vote on your work. If your final score was above 1.60 out of 5, the flash stayed there. If it was under 1.60, it was deleted. Animations and games are not easy to make. Based on this, a lot of flash artists who receive harsh criticism from users who didn't have any flash would often reply, "Flash by [username]: -None-".
I'm also sorry to hear you had this experience earlier, but I'm glad you're feeling better now.I will say that I'm feeling better now, though.I apologize for my complaining too, I'm just so sensitive, I guess.

I used to spend a lot of time at an art site where they held contests, but you had to have 20 or more ratings (which became likes later on) to enter the drawing. So if you weren't popular, you didn't even have a chance. Art often takes a lot of time, too.
