So many people want to make art these days... but I have to wonder what their motivations are, whether they really get joy out of creating, or if they're just trying to be cool. And do they have anything interesting or useful to say?

I just enjoy making you guys laugh. It's also a good stress reliever when making vent art and it's an effective way of communication as others have pointed out to me.

My current drawing skills probably wouldn't have gotten to this level if it weren't for you guys and your encouraging feedback.

What a fool I've been wasting all those days and hours trying to create something detailed and colourful when I was making masterpiece after masterpiece in my primary school scarpbook. I could have been a millionaire by now.

Has anyone ever read, "The Book of Jasher"?

I actually have not, but I know a bit about it.

The Book of Jasher mentioned in Joshua has been lost for a few thousand years in all likelihood. I know of at least two books with the same title that enjoy some circulation. One is believed to be of Medieval Jewish origin and is often reprinted in 'lost books of the Bible'-type volumes. The other (also known as Pseudo-Jasher) is an Enlightenment/deist forgery currently reprinted by the Rosicrucian Society.

Both are legends (Pseudo-Jasher's more along the lines of The Archko Volume and maybe the LDS' books of Moses and Abraham), and of late provenance to boot. But almost all pseudepigrapha is late, most finding their composition in the last few centuries B.C.

Funny thing is, I stopped participating in art contests due to this reality.

I got tired of seeing first prize ($40,000) going to the equivalent of a stick figure. I dont mind losing to better artists..... it is annoying to lose to someones 5 year old with a box of crayons.
