  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WOMM: Officially in Christmas-mode for the rest of the week! Going to work on wrapping gifts, homemade presents, CF gifts, listen to Christmas music, learn Christmas songs on guitar, consume as much hot chocolate as humanly possible, DVR holiday shows, and finish painting coal for naughty relatives. :clap:

I did use the CF banner avatar back in October, but it was only for about a week or two.

Does anyone have an idea for a Christmas gift for a man turning 60? Who's almost nothing like me except for the movies and tv shows we both seemed to laugh at and remember as classics from my childhood? (This is my father, by the way, who is making a surprise visit to Houston on Saturday/Sunday since neither of us were able to go all the way to Tennessee to see family.)

I had a few ideas but only from online shopping, and it seems the places where I found these ideas just would not ship before Christmas Day. :/
So I am going to have to resort to going out to do physical shopping for this one ... God help me.

Hrrrrmmm maybe a turntable? Tablet? Kindle? A DVD of classical movies? Tickets to a sport event or to a live concert of band that he loves?
