Been doing some more thinking. This time on Heaven and having glorified bodies. This ain't a pity party, I assure you.
I read speculation that in Heaven, we'll still have our gifts and talents to serve. Truth is, I don't think that's the whole story. I know that we will receive glorified bodies that won't tire out, get damaged, or get sick. They will be perfect and free of defects. Why not minds too? Our glorified minds will be without defect so there will be no more emotional problems, psychological disorders, or even mental disabilities. With Asperger's I'm wired to be good at a few things while being near useless in everything else. With a glorified body and mind, I won't have to deal with this kind of disability. I'll be able to do things I could never do before.
I believe there is differing degrees of reward in Heaven based on our character instead of our inborn gifts and talents. A mentally disabled person who did his best to love would be exalted and given better positions in Heaven than a lazy and self centered genius. The last becomes first in the Kingdom. Obviously this newfound responsibility would require more brain power with a glorified mind. I now believe our minds will be enhanced along with our bodies.
Everyone wants to be the five talent servant but very, very few want the responsibility and the humility for it. Eugenicists tried very hard to create a society full of five talent servants while persecuting the one talent servants. Truth is, such a society would be Hellish because of how competitive we are as a species. Having a whole society of scientists, engineers, and doctors would be less stable because the competition would only just be even more fierce for the small job pool. Despite the cultural stigma they contain, we actually do need people working at McDonalds, working as garbage men, and as farmers. Having a society where everyone has equal gifts and talents would not work because of our competitiveness. However, in Heaven we would have no reason to compete with each other. There would be no jobs we had to prove ourselves worthy of having based on our gifts and talents, just our character. In Heaven, we all just work together for the common good of the kingdom instead of against each other for our own personal comfort. In Heaven we could actually get away with equal ability unlike here on dog-eat-dog Earth.
In Heaven, many jobs and skills will be obsolete. Doctors, nurses, soldiers, police men, firemen, and such would have no use for a society like Heaven. Everything will be perfect and we'll be focusing our abilities more on creating things rather than trying to fix things just for them to break again. I think we could actually have professions in Heaven that suit our tastes for creativity and joyful service without having to worry about paying the bills for the month.
After thinking about this, I have come to the conclusion that I have wasted my time and energy in worrying about not being as capable as others due to my disability and envying others for their God given abilities and temporary privileges. Gifts and talents were meant to serve others, not ourselves and God will judge us based on our character instead of our luck in the genetic lottery. In Heaven we'll all become more powerful than we can ever imagine after being struck down by worldly ills and troubles.
