Well, I think it's about time for me to take off. I hope everyone is well, and has a beautiful afternoon.
Goodnight.

Well, I think it's about time for me to take off. I hope everyone is well, and has a beautiful afternoon.
The last few years I've been using an ESV bible app to read on my phone. I prefer NIV (1984) though. Perhaps because that was my first bible. But I guess the way it's written makes a lot more sense to me than many other english translations I've tried. Not sure why it is, but it feels more "in my language"; I don't think I've given other versions a good enough chance yet though.
I have looked in book stores for a NIV (1984 edition) but they never stock them anymore. I have two copies of it - the kids adventure study bible I got for my 8th birthday that has excellent binding; and another one I bought more recently that I don't trust the binding not to fall apart later. I read that one when I want a solid non e-book version to read.
The only other english bible translation I got into reading was the NKJV and that was because of several private schools I went to growing up required it for memorizing verses or reading along in bible classes.
I will consider looking for the ESV study bible. I have definitely enjoyed the NIV study bibles I've used over the years.![]()
Yes, and no. It's the RSVSCE. I normally use the RSV (second edition) in the Oxford Annotated Bible, but I decided to grab the copy put out by Ignatius Press which has a better binding, more aesthetically-pleasing cover, and it'll save me from having to use my RSVSCE New Testament and switching back to Oxford for the Old Testament. Also, the deutercanonicals appear as an appendix in Oxford, whereas they are integrated in Ignatius.
It can become easier or more difficult to read depending on the type of translation it is. NIV tends towards the thought-for-thought whereas translations like the ESV are more literal and tend towards the word-for-word translation.
In fact, ESV I think is ranked 3rd in accuracy for word-for-word translations, behind the Interlinear and NASB. That said, I still think it's quite readable, however, having a study bible on hand to read the notes if you get stuck is invaluable and the ESV's own study bible is great for that.
Do you like this guy Elizabeth ?
Oh I had such a good day, though kids tried to break into the unitbut we got plastic sheeting and glue and fixed the windows ourselves, strong women fixing windows with what we had at hand brilliant.

Wondering why other people enjoy witnessing other people's failures.
They are happy when they see others fail.
