  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I hear you... I just weighed today and was disgusted. I'm down 6 lbs from a month and a half ago when I started making changes, but I still can't believe I let it get this bad. It's an overwhelming feeling getting back into healthy eating and working out habits, but it's way more overwhelming seeing the scale tell you you're overweight.

Yeah, now that I'm nearing 200 lbs again I really need to apply myself. Got to get back to a respectable 160-170 lbs and then learn to like myself again.

So then, we need.

@Wayholka and @LizzyMae

You shouldn't have done that... :aarh:

OMM: The bull is 5 pounds lighter.

At least according to timed weigh ins (Try to weigh every day at same time)

Also OMM: Just looked up at the TV while typing this at the TV that is on for sound, not so much for the "entertainment".

The world SMH.

Skips out on her "wedding" to get picked up by a man in a helicopter to "neck" with the pilot. :|

Great message there..... (I know its "just a commercial" but sigh..... lesser minds are influenced and those lesser mind ARE the masses.)

Aargh- that makes me nauseous actually. I got a lot of those nasty globbers to go. I want to lose 35 lbs by June.

Im no profession but I think the best way is make little life style changes over "dieting"

I cut sodas (I had some yesterday, but, that aside its been weeks without. Thank God for green tea and sugar :D )

Diets only change your weight until you return to old habits.

It takes longer, but it sticks and is easier cause its small changes.

Slowly its not as hard to make those changes.... one less soda a day... etc.

Or like I have done.

Instead of sodas - Green tea

Instead of potato chips - Steamed garlic potatoes (Yes microwave ) Its still not "healthy" but it fills me up with less damage to my body than 10 servings of potato chips.

1 slice of cheese instead of 3 - now to no cheese (Im a cheese LOVER. I have kicked my every day cheese and dr pepper habit, something I thought impossible before)

All by taking it slow and not forcing change on myself at the level I want to be.

If I REALLY want something. I have it, but I find myself wanting those things less. (Whether I lose the taste for it or I just dont want to undo the work.... not sure.)

Congrats, you lost this much fat...

Keep up the good work!
Thank you, I really did think it would be harder to kick soda..... I still would like to have one.... but slow changes. :)

You can do it, just cut back slowly. It sounds cliche but truly if I can...... anyone can. I've been drinking nothing but sodas for almost 30 years..... Im still addicted to sugar but green tea is helping me slowly drop the dose of even that. I choose how much sugar, not the can. :)

Like I've said a few times before, quitting pop is like quitting smoking for me. You just can't cut it off for two weeks and then have 'just one' glass. In fact, sugar is 8 times more addictive than heroin according to a documentary I watched.

I'm trying to eat healthier too by eating bags of raw peas, carrots and apples while just drinking water. I also got to quit eating all those donairs every time I walk home from work and definitely stop eating pizza at work. If I were to bring bagged vegetables to work at a snack there, I wouldn't have to worry about my co-workers raiding my snacks as well.

DIS BLUBBA GOTS TOO GO!

My head is spinning after this Monday.
I worked so hard this weekend to catch up... but I was given a few more surprise assessments and evaluations to do today. So I'm back to square one.

All I want is to go for a walk... in the snow... and look at the pretty Christmas lights. Of course we'll need snow first^_^, but I can still dream LOL

This sounds like not a real problem, but the problem is I already eat pretty healthy. The only coke i drink is Tab and that's zero calories and about once a week. I love fruits and veggies and I cook almost everything I eat - and I'm not a big fan of butter and oil. I've even been able to cut cheese out almost entirely with fairly little stress. I drink water like it's going out of style and I drink my coffee black. My metabolism is just awful for whatever reason. I'm going to keep eating healthyish and working out 4-5 times a week for another month, then in January I'm going to do a month of hardcore dieting. If I'm still not seeing results at that point I'll be forced to consider the possibility I've inherited the family thyroid problem.

I have read that cinnamon and cayenne pepper are supposed to boost metabo. I have been adding cinnamon to everything that I don't add cayenne pepper to. (Being a texan I put cayenne on ice cream.:p)

Im new to nutrition though so all I have been doing is experimenting. Cutting back with the goal to eliminate the bad and eating more often to keep my metabo pumping. (Im normally not hungry more than once a day. I've been eating less, but eating more often.)

Im still not used to it. I even snack.... its so weird to be eating smaller meals more often. Id rather get all my fuel for the day in one sitting, but.... if it works.

Im sure there is something that will work for you. :)

This sounds a lot like me with pop. I'm tellin ya... if you can't kick the habit, like me (thought i did for a bit there but picked it back up), I highly recommend making the switch to diet pop. It hits the "pop craving" and has 0 calories... if I hadn't have switched I would literally probably be 20-30+lbs heavier right now, pure fat.

As for the donairs.... omnomnom. But definitely not healthy my friend haha. I ate a few of those in the summer... quickly got rid of that one too.
My head is spinning after this Monday.

that pic :bigeye:lol. Snow really is amazingly beautiful...some of my most cherished memories are walking in the winter.

I say it all the time but I really do wish I had a good camera. I'd take so many pictures of so many things, Nova Scotian snowfalls being one of them.

Yeah, terrible commercial. I sometimes feel I have a gift of discernment... because I'm able to see through all that sort of stuff very clearly, while people around me are so clueless to it... feels like I'm literally in the movie "The Matrix" sometimes. Might not be a gift of discernment though because I had that ability before I was born again and discernment is a "gift of the Spirit" so.

Congrats on the weight loss, I'm sure there's more to come too.

Diet "pop" is actually MUCH more damaging to your body than regular.

Id rather deal with the weight gain than what those things do to my insides.

Besides, diet soda tastes so bad.... even if its acceptible at first sip, the after taste is always motivation to lick the floor of a movie theater (or Theatre for you silly Canadians. :sput:) just to be rid of the taste brought on by the diet soda flavor.

Well I'll be the test dummy to prove whether the things said or not about diet pop are true or not... that's for sure... lol.

I've drank a diet pop once a day for about 5-6 months now haha, missing days here or there.
